Tatar or Nyquist plus a D prospect probably will be enough
-
Because nothing ever changes, meaning if something isn't true now then it never was true. Mantha had to adjust to playing hard for 30-45 second shifts instead of picking his spots on 2 minute shifts. It took him awhile, apparently he learned his lesson.
-
At least he was claimed, he could be in the AHL snorting his oxy

Prevent defenses tend to do nothing more than prevent you from winning
-
Try to trade Smith or Kindl, Marchenko stays in, the guy who stays is the 7. Failing that, send Marchenko down.

WIIM is a trash site. Nothing I've ever read there has been worth the time

What are the rules in signing undrafted players?
DickieDunn replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
He couldn't be signed now even if he wasn't draft eligible because he's obligated to finish the season in Russia. -
Plus preseason games

I'm 100% positive Babcock told the players not to fight. Too many guys who showed a willingness to drop the gloves stopped fighting once they got to Detroit.Ericsson has talked about worrying about injuries from a fight, though.
-
Callahan needs to play the same in Detroit as he does in GR. What I've seen of him in limited time against NHL players, he acts scared.
-
Once a player clears he doesn't have to pass through waivers again unless he's on the NHL roster for 30 days or 10 games.
-
If they call up a kid he will not sit. They'll call up Cleary if they want to just have a body in the press box.
-
Ferraro did nothing to show he should have been kept.
-
And lots of players have been praised early on then never hit their ceiling. AA has top line potential and can play center as well. Forwards are also a lot easier to find than defensemen. Obviously, I'd rather trade AA or Mantha (especially Mantha) than Larkin, but of for whatever unlikely reason a guy like Ekblad or OEL comes available and Larkin is the only one they want, I think you have to do it.
-
I've seen too many kids who fans insisted were untouchable, then a couple years later the kid's good but not close to what the fans insisted he WAS going to be to say any kid is untouchable. If I was GM and could get Ekblad, OEL, Doughty, or some other young established #1 D for him I wouldn't hesitate.

Travis Richards, got the wrong brother. He played D for the Griff's most of their first decade+ and was the captain.
-
Todd Richards was one of GRs best d-men for years, not an NHL player. I haven't seen much, but I've seen enough. I don't see the strength to handle the NHL players or the skill to make up for not being strong enough. Sproul not being good defensively at the AHL level means he'd be a complete liability in the NHL.
-
Jensen is an average AHL player apart from his skating. Sproul hasn't put it all together yet and he's quickly running out of time.
-
The Wings have 4 potential top line forwards in Larkin, Mantha, AA, and Svechnikov. They have 0 potential top pair D. Deal what you have for what you need. I believe Larkin will be good, but being elite isn't a guarantee, and he wouldn't be the first guy who had a fantastic rookie year then fell off the map for whatever reason.
-
Marchenko is waiver eligible. Unless someone else is hurt or there's a trade, he gets sent down.I'm not sold on Jensen and Sproul as NHL players, even as 7th D.
-
Smith and Kindl need a partner who can help make up for their brain farts. Marchenko does a decent job there, but at this point KFQ is better. He's moat likely going to be a solid but unspectacular 3rd pair guy who you can plug into the top 4 if there's an injury but you don't want there full time. XO is probably going to end up about the same, with a little more offense and upside. Move on from Quincey, Smith, and Kindl in the off season, go with those two, Kronwall, Green, Dekeyser, and Ericsson with a cheap vet #7 unless you can make a trade to bring in an upgrade and move Ericsson to the 3rd pair.
-
Larkin should if that's the cost to get a young top end D like OEL or Doughty and for nothing less than that.
-
I thought Oates was moved as much for his coke habit than anything else

I can't remember who, but a former goalie said making the best wider would screw with the goalies too much, but making then taller would be a good idea. Higher crossbar means the 6'4" goalies would actually leave some room up top, which would lead to the not dripping into the butterfly as quickly, which would lead to more room down low. Bigger ice wouldn't get the defense to move away from the middle of the ice. You'd just have teams standing around the perimeter passsing the puck and never shooting.
