Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick
DickieDunn replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
It takes value to get value. If they trade Mantha it won't be giving up on him, it will be to get a good established player. I'm not sure why so many people don't understand this concept. -
You make it sound like he has good production though. There's no way he's going to get much less than Petty or Niskanen, and he'll probably get a bit more. That's a lot of money for a guy with suspect defense that puts up pretty modest points for his ice time
-
He has a title already. I think it's something about player development
-
Waiving Kindl and eating the cap hit+ paying his replacement doesn't save much. There is zero reason to just dump him instead of keeping him as the 7th and zero reason to have a waiver eligible player sitting in the press box.
-
For the minutes he got, he didn't score much

Pretty sure it's been said Chelios will not be a full time assistant -

Based on recent history he'll be doing good to hit 20 goals. -
signed REPORT: Axel Holmstrom Signs With Detroit

No relation to Homer -
Nyquist's production declined because there was no way in hell he could sustain what he did during that 2 month run over a full season. He's good, but he's not a superstar.

Because the Blues would have matched. I agree that the Hawks probably won't move either of their top 2 D. -
Forwards are expected to play defense regardless of the talent level of the D. Free agents typically get more than they're necessarily worth now. It's a fact of life in the new NHL.
-
The secret is only overpaying for the right guys. Nobody on the market now is worth overpaying.

Jets re-sign Anthony Peluso for only 675.000 AAV (2 years)

Not very often. -
I think Tater and Dekaiser are going to be good, Larkun is a future stud though
-
Yup. Except the interviews where Blashill says that he needs to work harder, nobody ever says anything negative about Mantha.

Your first mistake is taking hockeysfuture seriously

He can't play hockey at an NHL level. Period. -
He was in charge of the Blues when the NHL first expanded and built a team that immediately won the new conference for the first few years. He has little to do with the Hawks' success though

Andersson can win faceoffs and kill penalties, two things Peluso can't do. He's a scratch because he sucks, he is not even close to being one of the best 4th liners in the NHL. Maybe the AHL though. -
Blashill isn't going to come out and say "he's lazy." The comments he made mean he's not working hard enough. Lazy is not working hard. Mantha is a lazy player who is used to being able to get by on skill.

9 points in 107 career games. He does one thing well, punch. Those guys are useless in the modern NHL. He's so valuable he didn't play a single minute in the playoffs and only averaged 5:52 a game in the 49 games he did play int he regular season. So valuable he was a frequent healthy scratch. -

Over rated and overpaid True, but I think there's a netter chance that he's an impact player than Mantha -
I see talent to be great, I don't see the game to game and shift to shift drive to be great. I've said since he was drafted he looks more like a 25-30 goal guy who doesn't take full advantage of his size and play physical than a 35+ goal guy who bulls people over.
