Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick
DickieDunn replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
The Wings have one legit high end center prospect in Larkin. I see AA as more of a winger with his skill set. Defense is a need too, but the Oilers are loaded with top flight young forwards and could move one. I don't see any young high end defensemen available. -

Unless you're trading for a young established player who would probably cost even more, he's as close to a sure thing as you're going to get. -
The Oilers aren't that dumb. If they do trade one of their top young forwards it's going to be for a higher end defenseman or a goalie.

Great hire. Always thought he'd be a good coach. Hockey version of Crash Davis

Sheahan might be a #2 center but not unless he learns how to use his size more. As much as people complain about Franzen, Sheahan is the least physical big guy I've ever seen. If anything the Oilers say no to that, I'm counting on then wanting some decent depth guys and help on defense along with a potential scorer in Mantha. Of course I don't believe Mantha will be that great so as far as I'm concerned getting a guy with better potential, especially a center or a more physical guy, is a good idea. -

3rd line center, prospect who may or may not be a top line wing, potential second pair d for a highly skilled young center and moving down 12 spots. How does that destroy anything? -

Sheahan, Mantha, Ouellet, and the Wings first for Drasaitil and their second -
Bowman is an advisor, he is not running the team. This thread is ridiculous

Franson is over rated and is going to get a ridiculous overpayment. I sincerely hope the Wings stay away from free agency this year. -
After what he did this year he'd be a top 5 pick in the draft this year

Third time's the charm, right? Exactly They're projected 4th line players. Ferraro might be Drew Miller's level, Callahan a decent 4th line agitator. You don't lose sleep over those guys. Of course, this is also the same board where several people insist that virtually any prospect that has a chance of being a 20 goal scorer or 2nd pair D is untouchable, but they MIGHT trade Pulkkinen and Ouellet if they can get a guy like OEL.

Kesler uses his size. Even them, for that cap hot you need more than ROR brings. -

Right here: I'm just saying since Nill and holland are close friends I'm sure Nill used it to his advantage to get a bit more than he should have Colorado would jump all over that. ROR is a highly paid center whose value is based mostly on hop[e of future production but who has one season of 20 goals to his credit. -

Exactly. Back man was told he needed to get stronger from day one and didn't, then went home when he faced adversity. Janmark is just a so so prospect whoay never play a game in North America, much less be a good NHL player. These were not prominent prospects, and regardless of what anyone thinks they know about negotiations, there's no legitimate reason to believe that Holland just said "uhhhhh take this guy too!!!!" when a lesser package would get the job done. I know people love most of our prospects and think that 4 mediocre pieces = a good player, but the reality is trades aren't nearly as easy to make as most fans pretend. -
Why would they move either?

The old Holland is lazy and stupid argument, he could have forced the other team to give him a better deal argument. A classic. Let's not forget, open to trading him is not the same as actively shopping him. -

So is it your contention that Nil asked for the pick and Backman, and Holland said "no, we want to give you Janmark too?" -

He's neither very physical or a future power forward. He's just big. -

Mantha's issue isn't scoring or conditioning, it's playing hard every shift. Sometimes that can be learned, sometimes not. Wings won't trade him or the first for a second pair D or second line forward though, I don't think. If there's a deal involving one or both, it will be big, and if it's for Phaneuf Toronto will need to retain salary -
He has far more talent than either Lapointe or Kopecky
