What fighting doesn't do, particularly using goons: Stop cheap shots. Keep people "honest." Punish the rats most of the time. What fighting does: Entertains the fans who like fighting. Give jobs to guys who can't play hockey but can punch. Gives players and fans the satisfaction of some old school justice when the rat is caught. That last part is the only real benefit from fighting, and it's why fighting shouldn't be banned, but it's reactionary to the issue, it doesn't prevent anything. Beyond that, when every team had a goon or three, the Matt Cooks of the world still wouldn't necessarily get a beat down because they had a goon on their team whose job it was to protect them. Probert fighting Rob Ray or Tie Domi was fun to watch, but that fight didn't solve a slash to one of the Wings' skill players.

Only polls I've seen said they'd want to play for him and another that said he was tough. Bosses who expect a lot tend to get a lot out of their employees.

I think this is a test to see how well he bounces back from a crap game.

Players playing for their "home town" is so f-ing overblown. A guy isn't better just because he was a fan of his employer when he was a kid.

Mrazek isn't better than Howard as of now. He might get there, he might not. Howard is an average #1. He's paid like an average #1. Howard is either limited by a bad groin or it's mental and he just doesn't trust it to hold up. That is his problem.

#tanksforthememories Someone skilled at photoshop should take a shot from Fury and replace Brad Pitt and the other guys with the GMs from the tanking teams.

Those other teams stole a lot of points with late game heroics too. And no I don't see a favorite, but I see a team with a decent shot at it.

Last 10 games mean more than the first 60 for some because it "proves" their doomsaying right.

If the Wings continue to play like this they have no chance. If they play like they did most of the year they have a good chance.

Andersson isn't good but he's not useless. Goons are useless, especially in the playoffs or in a tight game.
