I agree about the forwards.Kindl is food for a couple games then looks like he should be in Toledo when his bad habits resurface. Ericsson looks like he needs a night or two off though.

I don't see how not getting Suter was a failure considering he wanted to play kind of close to home and with Parise. There's no way the Wings were going to give them those matching contracts, because it was stupid and a desperation move.Weiss isn't getting a chance to show what he can do. I don't know if it's personal with Babcock, or he's not picking up the system, or if he's not getting along with the rest of the team, or what. Filppula isn't worth his contract either though.

Losing Streak affecting Babcock's Decision?

But cheese is also yellow and Babcock loves cheese. -

Bowman had great teams in 95 96 99 00 and 01 and didn't win. He used grinders with Hall of Fame centers and had Fedorov on defense for awhile. He must suck too -
Phaneuf is a lot overpaid and unless they change their minds they won't retain salary. They also want Mantha or Larkin, which is a deal killer. Smith is the most likely defenseman to be moved. Dekeyser could go if a legit top pair guy not on a moronic contract is coming back. Quincey will be back then will be let go to make room for a rookie next summer.

Why sit any waiver eligible player? That's what guys like Lashoff are for.

A few bad games isn't going to change his mind. RE: Roster decisions. Before Cleary's knees went bad, he was a hell of a complimentary player for skilled guys. He was fast, he'd hit, and he had enough skill to keep up. Babcock was just too stubborn to see that he was done before last year. Andersson isn't much of a scoring line center, but he's not a checker either. He's just one of those 'tweener guys who don't do anything really well. He's a good reserve, but that's it. He's had some limited success in that role though, so they might as well try it if Babcock won't put Weiss there. They have Glendening to play checking center, they don't need Helm there. He's done fine as a support player. So has Abdelkader. Modano didn't play because he came into camp out of shape, took forever to get back into playing shape and get any traction, and when he was starting to finally play better he had his wrist tendons severed right and never recovered. Legwand had trouble learning the defensive system, which is a danger of any deadline trade. Maybe he thinks calling out Cole will piss him off and light a fire. I remember when Bowman singled out Shanahan after a bad run by the team even though everyone was playing like hot garbage, and the next game Shanny went apes***. -
19 minutes a game, 72 games played, 12 goals, 46 points, and only 89 shots on goal. that's only one shot every 15.37 minutes of ice time. Pretty piss poor production. Tatar and Nyquist have more points playing considerably less time a game. So do Callahan, Kucherov, Palat, and Johnson for TB. Which is exactly why I was happy to see him go. He's never had back to back seasons where he's been productive and healthy, and this year is following the same pattern. He'll probably hit 50 points, but considering how much he's playing, that's bad.
-
Hudler was redundant because of Tatar and Nyquist were coming in. Filppula was too inconsistent here and needed a change. I'm not going to worry about either of the two current Wings until they get close to ufa status.

You don't at #2's $7 mil per.

That's pretty much what I said.

Weiss' biggest issue is Babcock doesn't seem to like him, and when Babcock doesn't like a player he uses him the least amount possible. He's been fine when he's been given quality linemates instead of being stuck with Miller and Glendening, not worth his cap hit, but a damn sight better than him sitting or being asked to play on the checking line. He needs to be moved one way or the other i Babcock is coming back though, because right now he's just blocking a player who might actually be used to help the team.

Quincey's expiring contract is a good thing. It allows the Wings to move in a rookie after next year. Kronwall, Ericsson, Dekeyser, and Smith are all unlikely to be going anywhere. They need an open spot.
-
Franzen might retire to LTIR, which will open a spot. Unless they move someone else, Zidlicky needs to go so Marchenko or Ouellet can stay. If Kindl can't be moved he can be the 7th, otherwise Lashoff or some cheap vet of the Kent Huskins caliber will be the 7th. Pulkkinen in at forward. Weiss has shown enough when he's been allowed to play with skilled players that a team might take him if Detroit retains some salary and doesn't want much. If they know that Franzen is gone and they can move Weiss, they might bring back Cole for a year. Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Abdelkader Tatar-Sheahan-Nyquist Pulkkinen-Helm-Jurco Miller-Glendening-X Franzen, Weiss, Cole, Andersson, Ferraro, Callahan, possibly Mantha or Athanasiou in that one open spot, juggling lines as needed. 2 guys not waiver eligible to fill the 2 reserve spots. Kronwall-Ericsson Dekeyser-Quincey Smith-Marchenko Kindl OR Lashoff OR cheap vet A waiver eligible player will NOT be kept in Detroit as a reserve. If a kid in GR deserves it, they'll be kept in GR and brought up to cover for an injury like they're doing now with Pulkkinen and Marchenko.

Miller has 98 hits, 4th on the team. Helm, Glendening, and Abdelkader have more.

Not you you, you the the that doesn't win.

You lost. No other sport gives you credit for losing.

Ideal would be 4 on 4, then 3 on 3, then the shootout, and if you lose the game, you get nothing regardless of if it's regulation, OT, or shootout. The current system awards teams that are good in the shootout instead of just good, and the 1 point was meant to divide the games in case of a tie. The next best would be make every game 3 points. 3 for regulation win, 2 for OT win, 1 for OT loss. But that would make teams less bunched up and reduce the parity a little bit and Buttman doesn't want that.
-
On wider ice, the defense would still be centered on the middle. All it would do is open up the perimeter for more passing.

The two most popular athletes in Detroit are the Lions backup QB and Wings backup goalie.

They have an official SJ Sharks dinner set. It has plates and bowls but no cups, and if you use it in May or June, everything falls apart

Why do you hate him so much that you're wishing for him to be done? Don't be shy, tell us how you really feel

I don't want them healthy, I want their team to be held together with duct tape from all the injuries, then get early rehab time when Detroit sweeps them.

I predict that holland trades the Wings first rounder for 2 more picks and gets 2 players he was considering taking in the first anyway.
