This season is like Survivor: NHL Draft. When you win too much, you get voted off the tank.

Red Wings acquire Marek Zidlicky from NJ for Cond. 2016 3rd Round Pick
DickieDunn replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Once Marchenko is cleared he'll likely be reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins. The Red Wings appear set with the six defensemen they've used the past four games and there's no point having Marchenko around as a healthy scratch. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2015/03/red_wings_johan_franzen_has_go.html -

If Zetterberg missed 2 months at a time in back to back years because of a known back injury you don't think people would question his career being over, especially if he wasn't close to coming back at this point? I know is be concerned.

Cement hands? You mean Helm who has 13 goals, 6th on the team, or Abdelkader who has 17, 4th on the team? Both are better than one dimensional Pulkkinen.

How many of those other guys are in their mid 30s and have had double digit concussions? The more you have, the worse they get. It's a proven medical fact. It shouldn't be hard to understand.

http://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/columnists/john-niyo/2015/02/11/niyo-concussions-leave-franzens-future-uncertain/23276907/ Beyond that it's common sense to think that his career might be over after that many head injuries. How many other guys have had their careers ended in the same way? Both Lindros brothers, Pronger, Savard, Lafontaine off the top of my head. It's not being a "hater" to think that, and I haven't seen many, if any, people saying that he IS done for sure, just that given his history and what we know about head injuries compared to 20 years ago that it's a possibility and might be best for his. It's no different than people speculating that a pitcher's career could be over after 2 or 3 bad arm injuries, or a football player being done after a couple knee surgeries. It was also expected that he could retire with no consequences, until that little troll Bettman pushed through that recapture penalty.

Every goalie has bad games. Howard is no different
-
Last report I saw said he's had 10 concussions in his career. That's a ton. He probably should retire, but it's his call. It also said he might be skating but he's a long way from playing and still has frequent head aches.
-
Wait until he's the #1 in a few years, he'll suck then.

They brought back a young top 6 forward and young top pair D as the principals. Everything I heard was Toronto wanted at least a top prospect or good young player plus a first and wouldn't retain salary. Nobody else bit either, which tells me that they wanted way too much
-
If they could do that, they would have. Toronto wants as much as what the Sabers got for Myers.
-
While that would be somewhat entertaining, the NHL has final say. Technically the owners don't own the team, they own the rights to a part of the NHL. Its like owning a McDonalds. You own it but you can't decide to use a different sauce on the Big Macs you sell, or bring back the McDLT

Speculation by a hockey writer. I don't think Ken Holland is dumb enough to take that crap contract. $2 mil per too much and 3 years too long. If it was a shorter deal, swapping him for Weiss even at a higher cap hit would be acceptable. As it stands they could have a $7 mil second pair d in 3 or 4 years with that contract.
-
Toronto is like the KC Royals but fans think they're the Yankees.

If he signs a one year deal he'd be RFA again. There is no reason for him to accept a one year deal though, and I doubt Detroit would want to do that either. If they do and he has another big year, his salary would go up. Nyquist and his agent will want 2 years, so he can be a UFA as soon as possible, Detroit will push for longer term, and I think he'll end up signing for 4-5 years at $5 mil per.

They really are the Lions of the NHL
-
You can retain up to 50% cap hit on 2 or 3 contracts. The dollar amount is irrelevant.
-
There is no way he's worth $7 mil. Unless they keep $2 mil, I wouldn't take him for a conditional 7th.
