Someone will give up at least a second round pick for him, probably a first. I'm not sure Zidlicky is worth that.

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

I don't think you understand player value. Every team has players like those kids, and they get more every year. They have no value on their own. Even as part of a package they don't have much value. Those types are throw ins until they actually show something in the pros. -
From what I understand he's "available" but only I'd the Coyotes get an offer they can't refuse. Maybe a horse head in the GM's bed would move it along though.

I have a cornerstone defenseman who is 23 and signed for a good contract through the 18/19 season. I'm not going to trade him for anything less than a king's ransom. I want a good young roster player, 2 top prospects who should be NHL ready sooner rather than later, a high draft pick, plus more assets or I don't trade him. Since there's no need to move him, unless he has privately asked me to trade him and will go public with his demand if I can't get it done, I can demand that much and just keep him if I can't get what I want.
-
If I was gm there it would take a lot to move him. He is good, although the Lidstrom talk is a bit much, and I'd be building my team around him. It would take one of Tatar, Nyquist, or Dekeyser, 2 of Mantha, Larkin, and Sproul, another decent prospect, a first rounder and another pick or prospect before I'd consider it.

I could see Philly trading for him then getting tired of him and trying to trade him again in a year

So did you dislike Yzerman? He complained to the refs at least as much as Crosby does.

In Glendale what do you expect

You mean the one about how both of their last hits was the wall?

Easy way to try and play the victim. "Sure, I did a bunch of stuff I shouldn't have, but I'm BLACK so I get treated worse." Good way to try and put the other side on the defense too.

They own his NHL rights

I hope they do get one and the kid starts slow, gets run out of town, then turns into a star as soon as he leaves Toronto.

His value isn't going to increase much over the summer unless he stops being dumb. The only way they're going to get much of anything for him is if he shows up to Jets camp next fall, says all the right things, and works his ass off. I don't think he'll do that. The biggest benefit from trading him now is they won't have to have that distraction hanging around and they'll save money.

I thought the walks into a bar thing was Taylor Hall's shtick, right before he yelled "who's doing me tonight?" I wonder if Kane can see what a d-bag he is, or if he thinks he's ok.

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

I think they were border line top end prospects. Lots of skill, but questions about size. Pulk has the same size issue but doesn't skate as well, and is a bit one dimensional even though he does work hard. There's a big difference between how fans of a team view prospects and how those same kids are viewed by other teams. -

First tier are projected top 6 forwards, top d pair, starting goalies. Larkin, Mantha, Sproul, Mrazek. Second tier are projected to be good players but there are questions and projections are more 2md/3rd line tweeners, solid second pair d, goalies who might start or might be backups. That's Pulk. Lesser prospects are projected bottom end of the roster guys like we Jensen Callahan and Ferraro, and guys who may or may not be NHL players. These guys have little value. Then there are guys like Frk and Tvrdon who have no trade value and are more or less filler for minor league rosters. -

Not even close. Pulkkinen and Marchenko are 2nd tier prospects. Frk, Ehn, Callahan, etc are lower than that. -

Because someone else would give at least that much for him -
Glad he's not our problem

I don't believe for a minute that the Leafs won't get more than a second for Franson, and adding Callahan or Ferraro to it won't be enough. I'm not as high on Pulkinnen as some people, but that's the level of prospect they'll get in addition to the pick, and I don't want to move him for a guy who is probably only going to be here for the rest of this season.

Coyotes GM recently said he would trade OEL although he's not actively being shopped. It wasn't that he'd trade him for Crosby or a similar deal either.

Franson and Franzen on the same team, Daniels would love it, Redmond would end up dropping an f bomb after he got mixed up. -

He'd either be a rental or keep an NHL ready d in GR. He's not a great 2/3 d, he's putting up points but isn't good in his own end. Babcock has no room for that type of player. Unless he changes how he plays Babcock would have him playing 12 minutes a night. -

Franson isn't that good. He might be better playing for a team with better structure but he might also get banished by Babcock. I'd rather stand pat if they can't make a major move.
