Flyers agree to terms with Del Zotto

You can create the same amount by demoting anyone making $925k or more. That's the most space cleared.

Flyers agree to terms with Del Zotto

    That's debatable

Who is YOUR most under-appreciated/unsung Red Wing?

My issue with Filppula was his inconsistency. One year he'd be good but usually get hurt, then he'd play most of the next season and end up with 40 points still.

Who is YOUR most under-appreciated/unsung Red Wing?

96-97 for sure. Possibly a couple the two previous years.

Who is YOUR most under-appreciated/unsung Red Wing?

Konstantonov got screwed out of at least one and probably more Norrises because he was Russian. If he'd been from Medicine Hat or Saskatoon the media would have loved him. Until this last contract Bertuzzi was pretty underrated. He got around 40 points, played the best 2way hockey of his career, and could stop some of the nonsense.

Confused on the direction of this team going forward

I would be very hesitant to give anyone less than one of the few nest players on the NHL a deal like that, bit unfortunately it looks like it's going to be the norm.

Candiens, P.K. Subban agree to 8 year contract

The real issue is the revenue sharing between the teams. Even with a cap and a floor there are haves and have nots because some teams get a lot more revenue from tickets merchandise and local TV deals. The other issue is when a team throws a bunch of money at a mediocre player just because they have it to spend.

Confused on the direction of this team going forward

If they make a major move I'd rather it be for a top pairing d, especially a rh shot, or maybe a young high end center. They have a lot of young scoring wingers ready or nearly ready.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

From what I heard the Ducks knew he was only scoring because of his linemates, knew they wouldn't re-sign him, so they traded him when they thought they could get decent value for him.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

Penner benefitted from who he played with Setoguchi just isn't that good. Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Jurco, Tatar, Nyquist, Weiss, Franzen, Sheahan, and one of Alfredsson, Helm, or Abdelkader on the first 3 lines. Last spots Abdelkader, Helm, Miller are set, Cleary, Andersson, Glendening, Callahan, Ferraro fighting for a spot. That works for me without adding the garbage left in free agency. The only other move I want is Kindl for a pick to make room for a rookie, or a package to get a top end right handed d.

Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV

According to that Czech article someone posted in another thread his choices were 2, 3, and 5.

Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV

I still see him topping out as a one dimensional scoring line winger putting up around 60 points a year instead of the next star player, but the contract is still pretty solid.

Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV

I was figuring closer to $2 mil since he was a RFA, but I guess if DFC can get $2.5 mil (does anyone think he won't get his 10 games?) Tatar probably wasn't going to sign for less than the team cheerleader.

Dekeyser signed. 2 yrs $2.187 million AAV

Incentives are only entry level and one year veteran deals.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

I don't believe Cleary ever had a firm offer. At best I think it was tryout with Philly with a potential offer if he showed anything. St. Lame was really the only one pushing the idea he was turning down a guaranteed deal to come back.

Where do you get that he wasnt talking with anyone else?

Jim Paek leaves Griffs to help run Korean Hockey

The South Korean team would get destroyed by the North. Kim Yung Un averages 14 goals a game between his trips to the moon and shooting 18 on an 18 hole golf course.

Jim Paek leaves Griffs to help run Korean Hockey

Good organizations make people want their employees. I'm surprised Park never got an AHL head coach job.

'District Detroit': Red Wings' New Arena Details Released

What helps more, blocks and blocks of blight, or 3 major sports venues a stones throw away from each other with residential, retail, and restaurant space along with concert venues? Do any of the other major cities have an arena, football stadium and baseball stadium so close together?

'District Detroit': Red Wings' New Arena Details Released

I saw what the Van Andel and accompanying restaurants did to Grand Rapids. It went from a ghost town downtown after 6:00 to being busy most of the time. That was just an arena and a couple refurbished buildings turned into retail and restaurant space. Condos, other restaurants and bars, etc. came along on their own as more people started showing up. Hopefully this new district does the same for Detroit.

Rule Changes in the AHL (what the NHL has considered)

Keep the shootout but drop the loser point.

    Callahan and Nestrasil re-signed

That doesn't mean he'd be claimed on waivers
  23. DickieDunn

    Callahan and Nestrasil re-signed

You guys are seriously over rating him. He's projected as a 4th line agitator, not a second line scorer.
  24. DickieDunn

    Callahan and Nestrasil re-signed

Based on what? One Clarkson like season in the AHL? On second thought, Burke might claim him and sign him to an 8 year $40 mil extension.

Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses

There is no silver lining to this contract. He's done. He's been done for two years.
