Even with revenue sharing Phoenix or Winnipeg doesn't have the same money to spend that Detroit or Toronto does.
-
Pronger signed in Edmonton as a free agent then allegedly his wife demanded he ask for a trade because he banged a reporter. Like I said, selling tickets is great but without TV and corporate money a team can't really compete.
-
Regular ticket revenue can't support a team. You need local media money and corporate sponsorship. Las Vegas games would all be sell outs where "fans" get tickets as comps at casinos, show up late, and leave early if they don't just spend the whole time in the casino that would probably be attached to the arena.

Article I read said that he was available, but not being actively shopped, and would only be moved to a Western conference team, with the Laffs being willing to eat some salary. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/05/12/on-those-phaneuf-trade-rumors/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs

Depending on who they move it would be fantastic. Tatar, D prospect and whatever else.
-
NHL needs to invest heavily in youth programs to grow the game. Kids play, they will watch. They need to get rid of the "it's a white sport" attitude a lot of minorities have. I can almost guarantee there will be 2 more teams to balance the conferences, either in the west or moving teams from the east. Florida should move. Phoenix will move eventually. They gave up on Atlanta too fast.

The thought of Byfuglien in Detroit makes me throw up in my mouth.

Two most hated athletes in Detroit are the Wings #1 goalie and Lions' starting QB.

Wings have the #1 & #2 most overpaid players (per point) in the NH

Krupp was worse, but the fact that those are his worst mistakes in that many years speaks to how good he is. -
There has to be a team looking, or at least willing, to trade a top flight player though. No top d-men have been traded recently. Only one hit free agency.

Suter is the only defensemen who is clearly better than Kronwall who has moved, and he went to the team willing and able to pay his BFF a ridiculous matching contract. Over $15 mil for Suter and Parise is not a good deal, especially when it runs through 2025. Weber was a RFA but Nashville wasn't going to lose him right after losing Suter. So I guess my question is, how the f--- do you replace Lidstrom? The answer is, you don't. You take the younger guys you've drafted, add Dekeyeser, and hope that e of them can grow into top 4 D to play with Kronwall. Ericsson and Dekeyser are 2nd pairing guys now, Dekeyser is getting better and Smith might be there next year. Then there are Sproul, Backman, Ouellet, Marchenko, and Jensen. You can say "well, those types of guys would be moved for the right package," but the odds are that the right package would mean a ridiculous overpayment. They don't need a player bad enough to trade something like Tatar, Jurco, Sproul, Backman, and Mrazek to get him.

Abby named Captain of the Men's US World Championship team

Now see, I try to compliment a Wings player, and you have to turn it all mean. Why do you hate like that? -

Dekeyser looked good against Belarus today. -
It's speculation that's been speculated by everyone even kind of interested in the Wings. Personally, I think he's gone, and Blashill, Trotz, or Tippet will be the next coach.
-
Ericsson was never considered a huge hitter. People see big guy and think big hits. The reality is that bigger guys don't usually have to throw big hits to be effective so they don't learn to play like that. Look at some of the mist dangerous hitters, most aren't really big.

Holland Holding on to Jeff Blashill

That and he seems to like college kids. I think he'd do well at Michigan, and there's a lot less stress and travel for a college hockey coach. -
Hi 27 years old, or there are other ways based on age vs. NHL time to help keep people from being buried in the minors forever. http://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2013/6/21/4436012/getting-to-know-the-cba-episode-3-free-agency

Krug is a much better skater.

I only ask because that's not the Vanek I've been seeing

Are there 2 Vaneks in the NHL?

Don't want another old injured guy. I'd rather see nobody signed and Mantha or Pulk in the lineup.
-
Zetterberg-Daysyuk-open Nyquist-Weiss -Franzen Tatar-Sheahan -Jurco Miller-Helm-Abdelkader Glendening, Andersson, Callahan, and Ferraro on the bubble. If Alfredsson isn't back and they don't sign anyone Helm or Abdelkader will be on one of the first 3 lines, but it opens the possibility of Mantha making it. If anyone signs, there is no room for him.
-
Smith Dekeyser Sproul Ouellet Marchenko Blackman Mrazek Helm Nyquist Tatar Jurco Mantha even guys like Kindl Pulkinen and Athanasiou have good trade value.
-
There are a ton of tradable assets, just not many most fans want to see go. Hence the Miller+Almquist+Ferraro for a good player suggestions.

What teams need a goalie? What do they have the Wings want that they'd be willing to give up? Why would they trade for Howard instead of using a pick on one or signing Miller, Halak, or Hiller? If the Wings sign Miller first then try to trade Howard, they other team will know that the Wings have no choice but move him and it would kill any trade value he has.
