Ideally they can get someone in free agency or through a trade and roll Kronwall-Dekeyser New guy-Ericsson -

I'd do Q to TB for Panik. Any trade the Wings make for a good player will cost at least one and possibly two of Tatar, Nyquist, Sproul, Ouellet, or Mantha. If you won't trade any of them you might as well not call around. -

Kindl, Quincey, and 2 conditional picks for Girardi. If he re-signs here, they get a 1st and 2nd, if not it's 2 6ths. Whoever trades with the Wings would need to take back equal salary though. That means either Quincey or Samuelsson in all likelihood, and that might be the deal breaker. -
I just finished Iscariot by Tosca Lee. It's a novelized piece of guesswork about the life of Judas Iscariot and how he might have thought and felt about Jesus. What struck me most was how it showed exactly how revolutionary Jesus was according to Jewish law. When Jesus healed a leper, or healed someone on the Sabbath, or talked to a woman, or anything else the strict Jewish laws frowned upon, Judas said something like "a good man would have sent them away/not done that, but of course Jesus did."

Last 4 seasons, including this year: Games-goals-assists-points-82 game averages G-A-P Moulson 262-97-102-199: 30.4-31.9-62.3 Franzen 225-80-82-162: 29.2-29.9-59.1 People think Franzen isn't worth a $4 mil cap hip but would pay Moulson a lot more for only slightly better production. The only difference is Franzen is having concussion issues. If you're not happy with Mule's points, you're not going to be happy with Moulson either. -
the 41st pick isn't that high. From 99-08 only 4 guys picked at 41 played in the NHL this year. Emmerton, Tyutin, Pavelcec, and BIckell. Not exactly a bunch of all stars.

Almquist is a RFA this summer. I could see him heading home. His offense isn't nearly good enough to make up for his defensive short comings. People want Kindl, Quincey, and Smith gone for their mistakes, Almquist is a good step worse than any of them.

this is a potential lineup for next year if they don't sign anyone Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Jurco Franzen-Weiss-Nyquist Tatar-Helm-Sheahan Miller-Andersson-Abdelkader Kronwall-Dekeyser Smith-Ericsson Kindl-Marchenko (or Sproul or Ouellet) Callahan, Ferraro, and Lashoff as reserves Howard and Mrasek in goal This is assuming Alfredsson either retires or signs elsewhere, and Vanek, Girardi and the other handful of legitimately good pending free agents don't hit the market or sign outrageously stupid contracts somewhere else so the best players left are guys like Boyes, the Jokinens, Zidlicky, Gilbert, etc.

Booth would be the #9 forward on a healthy Wings team. I want better than that unless they take Samuelsson Cleary or Bertuzzi straight up and keep half his salary. -
Name 30 better.
-
It's 100% accurate.
-
The injuries and role in roles they're not accustomed to, and a lack of consistent lines, are why the team is so inconsistent.
-
So telling the truth about his abilities is being a dick? He doesn't complain about his role. OK. Does that make him a better player?
-
The bottom line is Eaves is a ufa and the Wings have kids coming up. Sheahan for sure can play a 3rd line role next year, maybe even carry the top line's piano. I think he's a useful player, but doesn't bring enough to warrant being brought back next year.
-
His mediocrity at virtually everything will be hard to replace. He's like a hockey version of Shane Halter.

Stewart and Hitchcock hate each other. He's basically been benched recently. If they can move him and get Callahan or someone else they'll do it in a second I think. -
No, it means Emmerton's hand is better. He was on IR.
-
The shocking thing will be if he's actually claimed.

We also need a team to be willing to take back equal salary, and have those players not be very good. -

It sounds more like he wants a fat contract and is going to go to the highest bidder. Given that someone is going to be dumb and give him more than he's worth, I'd prefer not to trade good young players to have him for a couple months. -

Actually, as it stands now once Weiss is of LTIR they will be well over cap unless Franzen goes on LTIR in his place. -

Rumor I've heard is Stewart to NY, Callahan to St. Louis. -
I want him to play as much as possible for the next few weeks, get into a groove, score a bunch of goals, and then maybe someone will be willing to give the Wings a conditional draft pick for him.
-
He was good in Nashville, but he's a smallish left handed play making winger. Not the type of player the Wings need.
