And why you have midget in your pants?

He's not forcing a prospect out, he's forcing one of the career AHL players out.

The Isles would have to take back equal money to make it worth. I don't see it happening. -
You sound just like lilly on RWC.
-
This sums up how I feel about them. I missed most of the game, but it looked like Howard and Neuvirth were both pretty good. 22 shots in the first for Detroit? Seriously? That's like video game shots.
-
There are a few guys like that on RWC. I've gotten to where I just ignore them.

Someone tweaks something in warmups, Cleary comes in and plays 18 minutes. Wings lose 5-4, Cleary is -5. Not really, I'm jsut very bitter about how Cleary has been used. Wings bounce back and win 4-2.

Funny story. Scooter is actually his long lost twin brother. Their parents got divorced when they were babies and each took one child, never telling Gunnar and Scooter that they had a twin. They met years later when Scooter was visiting Iceland and decided to try the local delicacy of half-rotten shark meat. They were going to, until Upton threatened to wave his penis at the crowd again. And yes, Jim Carr is the radio voice, still wearing that bad toupee, and Lady of Spain has been replaced with the Macarena as the banned song.

Are you seriously asking for an all Panther line? Fleishmann hasn't been good this year, maybe he needs a change of scenery, but that's a lot of money for a guy who's having a down year tied up next year. I'm not all that enamored with Gilbert either. I'd much rather trade Kindl and a prospect for a better d-man and skip Boyes and Fleischmann.
-
I did some research. Gunnar quit hockey a year after losing to the Ducks, citing that coach Wolf Stansson's overbearing nature made hockey no fun anymore. He now runs Iceland's largest hakarl (aged and fermented greenland shark meat) production companies.

Alfredsson retires, Vanek and Gaborik sign before hitting the market, and people go nuts with the next tier of guys and hand out 7 year high salary deals to Grabovski, Stastny, etc. Wings are left with guys like Boyes to choose from.
-
Glatt can only fight and doesn't have the fear factor as the others. Rhea is washed up. Reed is a winger though. He's ready to step in when Ogie gets suspended and possibly deported though, don't worry

I think the grocer and the cake eater are cousins. I thought about Stahl too.

Hypothetical: What Coach Would You Replace Babcock With?
DickieDunn replied to cnot19's topic in General
He has won at every level he's coached. This isn't some guy who was an average junior or minor league coach or spent 15 years as an assistant somewhere and got a job because the team's he was an assistant on were winning. I think the real issue here is that he's been in Detroit for 9 years. Babcock has said it himself, after awhile the coach starts sounding like Charlie Brown's teacher. Wah wah, wah waaah wah wah. Trotz is the only coach who has been with their team longer, and with all the turnover the Preds have had, the players don't get time to tune him out. the next longest is Julien, who started in Boston 2 years after Babcock was hired. -

Coach Chadwick. If he could teach Dean Youngblood how to stand up for himself, he can do anything. Maybe he can get heaver to be the backup goalie and Racki for the 4th line winger spot too. -

It still takes a good coach to win, or the Wings would have had a Cup with Lewis. -
Original post edited to include this. This is assuming Alfredsson either retires or signs elsewhere, and Vanek, Girardi and the other handful of legitimately good pending free agents don't hit the market or sign outrageously stupid contracts somewhere else so the best players left are guys like Boyes, the Jokinens, Zidlicky, Gilbert, etc. I just find it interesting that people want the Wings to bring up younger guys, but then they want the Wings to go out and sign mid level vets too. With one D spot and probably only 2 forward spots open next year, it's going to be one or the other. I think that if they can sign one forward and make a move to trade Kindl or Smith plus a prospect for an upgrade on defense, filling the other open spots with kids is going to be ideal. I'd even be pretty happy with slotting Jurco and Sheahan into the starting lineup and making the one move on D, sicne I think that #4 spot is probably the weak link in the roster. With goalies, the best 6 or 8 are going to want to go somewhere they have a chance at starting. Ideally I think Mrazek is going to be in GR, but if their best option to back up Howard is a guy like Dubnyk, Mrazek is the better option.

Here's the other question. If the good players are taken, and there aren't that many good players who are slated to be free agents, would you want them to sign a 2nd or 3rd tier guy to a 4 or 5 year deal for $5 mil if that's what those guys are signing for? Vanek is the only clear cut top line forward available, with another dozen or so guys who can play on a top line if they have enough help, and then a bunch of second and 3rd line guys. Defense is even weaker. You've got Girardi and maybe MacDonald as top pairing guys, a handful of solid 2nd pair guys who are near the end of their careers, then a bunch of guys who are probably better served and #4 d-men.

His man love for Cleary notwithstanding, I think Babcock is one of the best coaches in the NHL right now. That said, every coach either gets fired or retires at some point, and 9 years with one team is an eternity. It may be time for a new voice, certainly after very much longer. It wouldn't surprise me if his contract wasn't extended after next season and they go in a new direction. -
Tootoo cleared a roster spot, but not a lot of cap space. They have almost $1 mil of dead space because of his contract.
-
Cleary doesn't have giveaways because he never has the puck. With Tootoo I wonder if there was an off ice issue.

I'd rather just play Smith more than get one of those guys. At least he might get better defensively, the guys you named are forever horrible. -

I know he's got a broken collar bone now, but the last few years he's been pretty healthy. He's played 47, 82, 62, and 76 games the last few years.
