Eaves is probably the first out the door. The only way I see him back is if 2 guys are gone through trade or injury, or possibly if Helm is good to go and they only need one spot they might just try to send Emmerton to GR. Depending oh health Emmerton is the next easiest to move. He's a good reserve because he's a center and cheap, but it's as much about who they can move as it is who they want to move. Of Tootoo, Bertuzzi, and Samuelsson, Tootoo has the most trade value, but also adds a dimension others don't. They will not just waive Bertuzzi or Samuelsson because the cap hits would stick. -
signed Wings sign Alfredsson to 1-year, $3.5m deal (+$2m bonuses)

Yup. One bad playoffs negates a whole career of 30+ goal seasons. -
That's what makes Illitch a good owner. He hires good people and lets them do their jobs for the most part.

Sather does what a lot of Wings fans want Holland to do. Big name free agent? Pay him! Good player available in trade? Get him matter the cost!

Shero's draft record isn't that impressive.

Go back and watch those playoff games if you can find them. He was with Lidstrom the entire time until the Finals, then Bowman changed things up to screw with Philly. In 97 he was the best D-man in the NHL and the only reason he didn't win multiple Norris Trophies is because of the anti-European bias in the media, especially towards Russians. Chelios and other North American guys were hard nosed, Vlad was dirty for playing the same way. That being said, career length counts. As much as I loved what he did, 16 shouldn't be in the rafters. I'd like to see the team honor him somehow though. The production line, both with Abel then with Delvechio at center, carried those teams to their Cups. Sawchuk was the best goalie in his era. If you don't think they're legends you're a moron.

Who will be the 3rd lemon? -
5 of 7 d men are under 30 and one of the projected forward lines will have 3 rookies. That's plenty of youth.

Yzerman was a top 5 pick whose game was based on his skating ability coming onto a not so good team. Mantha is a mid 1st round pick who is projected to be a big bodied forward but is too skinny to do that and needs to improve his work ethic coming onto a team expecting to at least make a push for the conference finals. See a difference?

Not sure if trolling or knows nothing about hockey... Or are you Emmerton? -

I think Andersson can have a Pahlsson type career. Dependable 3rd or 4th line center with a big body and wins faceoffs. Emmerton is more like Matt Ellis. He won't hurt much but he doesn't help a lot either. Saying that they used him as the 4th center the last couple years so they should just keep him there is border line retarded. If you can upgrade you do it. -
Mostly lower tier Russians or border line guys anyway.

Liking a player and thinking a kid with 8 points in 38 games is border line top 6 are two different things. -
Shanahan is not an iconic player in Detroit, although he was instrumental in the Cup runs he was here for. The players with their numbers retired are icons. That's the difference.

Andersson is only the #3 center if Zetterberg, Datsyuk, or Weiss is on a wing and Helm is out. That's also the only way Emmerton is in the lineup, and even then Abdelkader is a better option at center for the checking line. Andersson has a big body, is responsible defensively, and was solid on draws, but he's still at best the 5th best center on the team and I'd probably put Abdelkader over him if it's for a check line too. Emmerton is god awful on draws and doesn't really do anything else well either except work hard, which makes him a decent pk guy. Abdelkader, Nyquist, Tatar, Miller, and even Bertuzzi and Samuelsson if they aren't moved are all better and more important. As far as Emmerton goes, the fact that he's a natural center is the only reason he wasn't dropped already and the only reason he's played the last 2 seasons is injuries. -

What's with the love for centers with limited skill? Nyquist and Tatar are going to carry the kid line. Anderson can increase his scoring 50% and he'll be at 24 points over a full season. Emmerton is a warm body and there's a good chance Sheahan or Ferraro could do as well or better in the 4th line center role. -

#7 forward implies he's the 7th best. He's not even close. -
I think you're confusing him with Roy's kid

How's that hard to understand? Those guys are one level. Emmerton is worse. Everyone else is better in some way shape or form.
