The good news is the route doubles as how his cab will take him to the airport when he gets fired.

Go watch Yandle. Kronwall is easily better defensively. I also think that a contender's #1 guy should kill penalties. Other than s 7 game stint with the team in 06-07 Yandle's top season of sh toi/GM was 33 seconds. This year in 48 games he played a total of 3:58 sh. 29 skaters played at least one game for Detroit this year. 20 of them averaged more pk time than Yandle. Helm played more pk in his one game than Yandle did all season. OEL is the Coyotes #1 guy anyway, so your boy isn't even a #1 in Phoenix
-
To be fair that might work as a top 4. You just need to play your second pair more than the first.
-
Hey Pavel you remember the time that you deked Couture and he fell down? Yeah, that was sweet. And Pavel, remember the time you ***** slapped Perry? Yeah thatvwad awesome.
-
So based on a handful of games you believe Dekeyser is ready to play against the best players in the world every shift?

signed Brendan Smith signs 2-year, $2.525m contract with Red Wings
DickieDunn replied to Matt's topic in General
Probably to kick start the negotiations -
Not if he plays in the KHL
-
Kronwall is more likely to change the game with one, Abdelkader hits more, and Datsyuk just gets you before you can get him. If more guys took a hit like him instead of trying to avoid them there would be far fewer injuries.
-
Datsyuk wouldn't publicly say anything bad, but you bet your sweet bippy that he'd go to Babcock if it was an issue.
-
That's exactly it. Datsyuk is no doubt in mind.

I was expecting double that. Very nice. -
How many forwards do the Wings have? I count 14 signed and 2 RFA guys. You have no idea how high Holland wanted to go. If he really wanted to keep Brunner and Brunner really wanted to stay I don't think $500k would have been the deal breaker. Samuelsson has a NTC so he has some control over where he plays and he still hasn't been cleared to play. Plus it's early in the offseason, no need to be rushing to make moves right now
-
He probably thought that he could get more and by now he knows better. Purely speculating, I think he went to NJ in part because he didn't want to go back to Holland and eat crow about how much he really is worth, being more or less guaranteed a bigger role and potentially more points, which means more money next contract, and possibly proximity to a bigger city.
-
In the KHL? Probably
-
The defense will be improved by the younger guys improving. When you bring in younger guys you're going to see growing pains.
-
Letang is terrible in his own end. If he, Phaneuf, Shattenkirk, and probably a couple of the other guys were Wings we'd have a bunch of people complaining about them, too. Kronwall is a solid #1 d, with a few guys who are better and a few more right around the same level.
-
If I asked you last offseason if the Wings should add a 6-2, 213 lb. winger who scored 53, 50, then 31 points in 51 games the previous 3 seasons on a 2 year deal for $3 mil per, wouldn't you have said that was a decent deal? The only reason so many people complained is because he was a "retread."
-
Pretty sure the time he missed early in his career was due to concussions
-
If the choice is to have $5 mil in the pressbox or $5 mil cap space going to guys you waived and 2/3 of that being paid out in real cash, what do you think is the more financially sound option? If they're on the roster they can still be rotated in and out and get some value. If they're just cut loose, you get no value from them.
-
So you think Brunner is going to score around 55 or 60 goals?
-
Samuelsson has averaged 50 points a full season since he left Detroit. If he's healthy there's no reason to think that he wouldn't score 45 or so, and he adds size, something that's sorely lacking on this team. How much is sitting in the pressbox is completely irrelevant as long as they're ok with the cap, and the lines can be configured however you want. If they find someone who wants to trade for Samuelsson that he'd waive his NTC to go to, or trade Tootoo, fine. If not, absolutely waive Eaves. He's a solid checking line winger who can kill penalties, but he has a history of concussions and his days in Detroit are numbered, especially after they signed Miller to his 3 year extension. If Helm is healthy and they move someone else, they might choose to dump Emmerton instead. If Helm is going to be out for awhile and they can't move anyone else, Eaves is first in line. He's better than Emmerton, but Emmerton can play center and they'll need that if Helm can't go.
-
"Emdog," which has to be the dumbest nickname I've ever seen, is on the roster, it's going to be as an extra forward unless Helm can't go. I know there's been some noise about the Wings moving Samuelsson or Tootoo, but they don't have to. Once they shift Alfredsson's bonus money to next year's cap, they can afford to waive both Emmerton and Eaves, eat the little bit of cap space that they'll get hit with for it, and still be over $1mil under the cap. Just another guy stupid Holland let get away.

Datsyuk yes, Zetterberg is a maybe right now. I'm torn about Fedorov. He was supremely talented, but the way he left, and had been trying to leave for quite awhile before he did leave, probably disqualifies him in my mind. The Wings don't retire your number just because you were great with them, or a Hall of Fame player like some other teams. You need to be an icon here to have that honor. There are some teams that will retire your number just because they want the attention of retiring a number (Colorado). Detroit doesn't and shouldn't do that. Really, they need a ring of honor type thing for the guys like Shanahan, Chelios, Probert, Konstantinov, the Grind Line, Fedorov, etc. Save the retirements for the players who defined the team like howe, Abel, Yzerman, Lidstrom, and now Datsyuk.
