Quit working isn't the same as retired Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Yeah the rank and file players get screwed in a lockout or strike. The elite guys might make up most, or at least some, of their losses back, but the guys making low end money won't. The most it does is push mid level guys out because the money all goes to the top players and the rest is paid to younger cheaper players. You see it in the NFL all the time. Why have a vet making $1.8 mil when you can have a kid making $900k for similar production? Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Ever work a union job? These guys are getting pushed to get big contracts so other players can get paid more.

I'd have liked Fartsmell a few years ago. Not now.

You forgot to add "and Holland"

That's the problem. Either Holland or ownership don't understand where this team really is. This isn't LA or Montreal who underachieved in the regular season and got hot at the right time and made a run. "Just get in" is a myth. They need a rebuild. They have some good starting pieces in Larkin, Mantha, AA, and Svech, plus Tatar, Nyquist, etc., with Mrazek as a potential bounce back. The goal needs to be build a contender, not just make the playoffs as first round cannon fodder Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

It's too early to give up on Mrazek, but counting on a bounce back because "Carey Price!!!!!!!!!" Is kind of silly. It's not better than a coin flip Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Salary cap has gone up because the PA has enacted an escalator clause lately, nut because revenue has increased that much. The NHL is a niche sport, there is only going to be so much money to be had. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Ericsson gone and keeping $2 mil in cap hit plus whatever they pay the replacement, you're probably better off keeping him until a buyout is palatable Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

If I was a youngish offensive minded player I wouldn't come within 500 miles of a team coached by Blashill Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Nail Yakupov + Jeff Blashill = disaster Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Smith has no upside, he is what he is Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

This team is rebuilding whether Holland wants to admit it or not. Over ripe is no longer a viable strategy Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

For 2 games. That's a "we need a body, might as well get a look at this kid," not really a promotion. And if you don't think there's a good chance they send him down just because they can when he's as good or better than some random vet, you haven't been paying attention to the Wings. Honestly, I think I'd rather have him in GR than in Detroit where Trashill can screw with his head.

Holland going Holland. And Svechnikov isn't guaranteed a spot, I don't know why anyone is saying he's made the roster for next year. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Like I said before, tell him he can either retire and play in Sweden or he can play in GR Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

I'd rather have Svechnikov than a vet Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

There isn't cap room to sign a 32 year old player to a 6 year $5 mill+ contract. Gotta take the positives when you can find them, right? Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

no I hope I will, but I doubt it. Bigger David Clarkson, not what they needed at 9.

might be the best pick the Wings made this year

You know that things are going to remain in neutral and Kenny is just going to move upstairs if he isn't brought back as the GM. Even if he is president, I think he's going to have a lot of influence over whoever gets the GM title. In other words, SSDD. I'd take a prospect too, sending a lesser package. And "want to" doesn't always mean "that's all they'll do."
