If he turns out to be the right pick, and I hope he does, I'll admit I'm wrong. But I don't think he is, so I'm going to express that. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk No, Holland stays in control another 6 years and it takes several years to fix his mess. 2031 is the next Cup, commissioner Crosby looked sick to his stomach handing the Cup over. Except EVERY report talks about his play around the net, and his lack of play making ability, at least the ones who don't make every kid sound like a future star. His stats bear out the negatives. Few primary assists, relatively low es points, makes his living on the PP and by using his size advantage, which won't be as great in the NHL. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

One is a center who can make his linemates better. The other is a passenger who collects garbage and relies on his linemates and size advantage, something he won't have as much of in the NHL, for his offense. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk Tippett could play that role without being limited to only that role. Rasmussen later in the first would be ok, he was a bad pick at 9, there were better options. Ummmm, yes he is, based on what both did. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

I know. I'm from the future. My name is John Titor. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Rasmussen is the type of player you take when you have a specific need. When you're rebuilding you need to try to find a higher end player even if you need to take a chance on a book or bust prospect, not a guy who projects as having a ceiling of a second line player. Based on what is known about the prospects at this point, their first two picks were questionable at best.
-
So you're saying they respeck da process?
-
He sounds like Clarkson. I don't want a Clarkson type at 9. I'd rather take a guy who has a higher potential to bust but has a higher ceiling, or Tippett who was almost universally considered better but is a wing, than a guy who probably will be at least a 3rd liner but probably not better than a second liner. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk Who the F is Scott Wheeler and why do we care about his opinion? Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Matt Millen had scouts too, he ignored them. Even if scouts were saying Rasmussen is good, it's his final say and he's the one who gets credit or blame. In this case it looks like a blunder. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

He said he did it. He's also in charge. That makes it his responsibility. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

They must be really unhappy in Detroit then Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk So is Gallant related to Gerald? Because of he makes it to the NHL and Ken Daniels is still around we're going to hear about him either being related, or hear " no relation to our buddy Spuddy" 300 times a season Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

The fact that he's the head coach and was the one who explained why 0 goal Sheahan was put on the PP to defend against shorties Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Saw him play in Muskegon. Good pick Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

They also think Glendening is worth almost $2 mil a year, Abdelkader can drive offense instead of just picking up other people's garbage, and Helm is a scoring line winger. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Blashill is the one who put Sheahan and Dekeyser on the PP Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Rasmussen just isn't the type of guy you take at 9. Vilardi and Tippett are both likely to be better, he's probably going to end up being a winger (as a top center you need more assists than he had, big red flag for me), they could have traded back (unless they tried and nobody wanted to move up to 9) and got him or a similar caliber player, or even if they were going to reach they could have taken a D like Valimaki or Foote Fungus Jr. This reminds me of the Sheahan pick, only 12 picks higher and with the team having a bigger need for a player with a higher ceiling. He's probably going to be in the NHL, but as a 3rd or maybe 2nd line player. Getting that type at 21 isn't bad. Getting that type at 9 is a bust.
-
From what I've read Vilardi was ranked higher for the most part, better upside. I don't hate the Rasmussen pick, but I don't really like it a lot either. I think if Holland really wanted Rasmussen he could have trade back a bit, or maybe even swapped the pick and Nyquist or Tatar for a good young D Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

The thing I dislike about the pick is that the consensus is he's a #2 center. We need a #1 center. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

If every player who needs a couple of years is a project, 95% of the draft is projects. Like I said earlier, the key will be if his usage was because of his abilities or coach preference. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Seriously, did Rasmussen play around the net like that because that's all he could do or because that's what his coach wanted from him? If it's all he can do, probably and pick. If he can do more then could be a great pick. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

So I heard about these twin bothers playing hs hockey in Alaska. Michael-Thomas, goes by his initials MT and Phil Dwat. Anyone know anything about them? Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

At least he didn't take a midget like Suzuki Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Lots of teams passing on Vilardi, wonder if they know something that's not public knowledge? Rasmussen is big at least, might have looked better without being hurt. Who knows how any of these kids will look in 4 years. I would have rather had Pettersson though Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk
