Nosek might be as good as Sheahan some day. There's no way Vegas takes a guy like that unless they want him for their AHL team. His numbers were near the bottom of the league for goaltenders for over a year now. That's not decent, and it certainly doesn't suggest he can be elite. St. Lame is a mouth piece. If she writes it, it's what Holland wants her to write. I 100% believe Mrazek's attitude was a major issue.

Price didn't act like a self centered prick and alienate his coaches and teammates either. Also, he never had a season with a GAA over 3 and a save percentage of .901. Mrazek is looking like a flash in the pan, like many other goalies before him. Seems like some smart poster said this might happen when everyone else was proclaiming him a future Vezina winner. Even if he has another season with a GAA over 3 and a save % barely over .900?

Some players believe that they are better than they are. Some feel like making it to the NHL, or even AHL, is good enough. Some have the skill to be better than they are but would rather spend their time partying and banging a different chick every night than working on their game. That's a lot of the reason for bust picks in the top 10. The difference between an Yzerman and a Daigle isn't talent as much as loving the game and being willing to put in the effort. My brother worked at Kent County jail for a few years. One of the deputies did some moonlighting as security for the Griffins and got to know a lot of the players. Daryl Bootland always complained that the Wings hated him and were unfairly holding him back, then spent most of his time away from the ice drinking and chasing women. Other guys did some of that but also hit the gym hard and we're on the ice when they could be working on their game. They made it, Bootland and those types didn't. Pros and cons of the 3 most likely Wings to be taken: Mrazek: Young, had a fantastic start to his career. Last year of his contract and may be movable for an extra mid round pick. Coming off a 15 months long stretch of terrible play and there are rumors of attitude problems. Sheahan: Typically a decent 3rd/4th liner, cheap contract. Took him until his 80th game to score a goal last year. XO: Young, potential top 4 D with developpment, solid 3rd pair guy now. Cheap. There are better options available on D.

If they get a D and he's ready to play in th NHL they can waive any number of players without missing out on much.

Mrazek's contract should't be an issue for Vegas. Last year, so if his play doesn't pick up, he goes somewhere else. Little risk taking him.

Mrazek has been bad for over a year. That's not a hiccup or a slump, it's a trend. Add in an apparent poor attitude and you get a guy you don't care if you lose. Granted, like I said earlier I would have protected him still, but it's not a huge deal. Losing Sheahan, XO or Sproul isn't going to do much either. XO is probably going to be better than Jensen, but he's not likely going to be more than an ok second pair guy at his peak. Exposing Green would have been the height of stupidity. That would just be throwing away assets. There likely wasn't much of a market for him before the expansion draft because whoever traded for him would have had to protect him. Holland wouldn't trade him in the off-season anyway because "playoffs are more important than a rebuild." Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk
