Maybe Tippett ends up as a 4th liner while Petterson fills out to 200 lbs and is a top liner. Or Petterson never comes to the NHL and Tippett is a second liner. Or both are top 6 players, or neither are. We don't know. Nobody knows. It's pretty silly to throw a fit over a kid that you have no idea of what he's going to be in 6 years,

Starting at the '14 draft, going back: Haydn Fleury Darnell Nurse Mark Schiefele Jeff Skinner Nazem Kadri Colin Wilson Jakub Voracek Kyle Okposo Jack Skille Rostislav Olesz Ryan Suter Joffrey Lupul Mike Komisarek Lars Jonsson So not many real stars, not many busts either.

Not if he wants to play in the Olympics If the Jets were willing to let Trouba go for the 9th and not much else, go for it. Same for Hamilton or any other young defenseman. I'd rather get them than the next McIlrath. If they wanted a whole lot more, take the risk with the pick. I don't see much separation between the guys likely available there. Whoever they take has more or less as much chance as any other of being a high end player, unless they go completely off the board and do a Matt Millenesque pick.

He was the Wings best goalie by a long way when he was healthy. If he had played enough games, his GAA and save % would have lead or come close to leading the league.

Suter was thinking about coming here, but he decided that he'd rather play with Parise closer to home. There were rumors that his, or their, wives influenced that, but probably not as much as Minnesota throwing that ridiculous contract at Parise. As to Howard, he's not "high paid." His cap hit is 17th highest in the NHL. Average starter money for an average starting goalie. https://www.capfriendly.com/browse/active/2017/caphit/all/goalies

Maybe Petterson would ba an Andersson pick. Would that make it ok? Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Kucherov says some Tampa players "got their money and stopped working"

Since I have no idea which of these 18 year olds will be the better player in 6 years, I hope they do just to watch the melt down. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

The issue with Howard is his injury history. He gets hurt every year, and most of the time is terrible after he comes back. Maybe a GM will believe this year was the norm going forward though. The other issue is Sit On His Hands Holland. I don't see him trading Howard. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

The reality is that this kid is playing in the second tier league there. It's like getting excited about a kid tearing up the ECHL

maybe he's like Joey from Blossom, or Ted "Theodore" Logan

And like I said, expand it to picks 6-10 or whatever you want, you're going to get a similar mix of players. Go back farther than 9 or 10 though, you get higher chances of not getting a star and a lesser chance of getting one. It doesn't change my original point at all.

I used #7 because that's where they're sitting right now. Those players were taken later because they weren't as highly regarded. The players I listed are the types that are generally considered to be worthy of a #7 pick. Similar types went in the 6-9 range. Again, some busts, some that ended up being elite level players, but mostly just guys who are good.

Less is not more exciting for the Chicago Blackhawks

Bowman took over a team that was on the edge of breaking out. Tallon built that core and virtually the entire team that won their first Cup. It's like Bowman gets extra credit because of who his dad is. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -
I think they did ok in net. And Brodeur benefitted a lot from playing in NJs system. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk Lots of North Americans play finesse style hockey. Gretzky, Lemieux, St. Louis, Yzerman, Murphy, Hull, Robitaille... The 97 and 98 Wings teams had a lot of European influences and you say you love them. By calling it European you sound like a Don Cherry wannbe dinosaur. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

The point isn't cherry picking busts or superstars. The point is we should be expecting a good player but not necessarily a cornerstone type player. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

So what was Homer? Kronwall? Ulf Samuelsson? Why call it "power vs European" instead of "power vs finesse?" Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk
