Is there someone who will make them a contender next year? Nope. Bring up kids and get ready to contend in 3 years. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

I was mistaken. It's 2 years of nmc. Dumb. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

I wouldn't sign anyone unless it's a Vanek type who they plan on moving at the deadline. Any free agent just blocks a kid's spot Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Yeah I thought I read the nmc was only the first year. Makes a dumb deal dumber. Vegas will have to hit the cap floor, they might take a guy like Helm. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

But if Holland is as good as he and his apologists say he is, it won't take that long Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Nielsen only has a nmc the first year. If a team is dumb enough to take him he can be moved once the new league year starts. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

6'3" 200 lbs at 18 isn't a big center? That's what Patrick is listed at.

http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2017/04/12/detroit-red-wings-ken-holland/100377410/ More Holland. My thoughts: They need a rebuild. Period. Even if it takes 5+ years, it's needed, because what he's doing isn't going to get them a Cup. If a GM is competent and drafts properly, getting high picks is a good way to build a team. It doesn't worth if you're like Edmonton and just keep taking one way forwards. Maybe Holland doesn't believe he can do that. AA, Mantha, and probably a couple guys in GR are better than some of the guys in Detroit who played more than the kids. Sheahan should have been a regular scratch by the half way point. Abdlekader, Helm, and Glendening shouldn't have had as much ice time as they did. Kronwall needed to play less just to be somewhat effective with his bad knee. Ericsson is crap. The kids ARE better than the guys getting more ice time. A young group sprinkled with a few veteran leaders can be exciting and is going to be something to build on. You don't need a team full of Helms, Glendenings, Ericssons. Blashill hasn't gotten the most out of the players. A lot of fans don't like seeing a team back into the playoffs and get blown out. Hoping that you're going to get more guys like Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Homer in the late rounds is a lot like using craigslist to find your future wife. He hasn't brought in a meaningful player through a trade in a long long time. I won't hold my breath he'll do it now. There should be plenty of partners if he truly wants to do it.

Add Dekeyser into the bad contract category Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Mrazek Kronwall, Dekeyser, Green Zetterberg, Nielsen (nmc), Tatar, Nyquist, AA, Mantha, one of Sheahan, Helm, Abdelkader. I'd protect Sheahan and hope they take a bad contract. Wouldn't shock me if he exposes AA. I think Larkin is exempt Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Chris Illitch speaks: Holland will stay - Blashill's future is up to Holland.

If missing one forward means you go from a top team in the division to missing the playoffs, you didn't do a good job building your roster. -
That's my point. How many 18 or 19 year olds aren't a lot skinnier than they're going to be at 21 or 22? 156 lbs for a kid who's 6'1" doesn't concern me a lot. What concerns me would be that he's probably 3 years away from contributing.

And one team still has nothing to do with the other.

One, I never thought Sutter was coming here. Two, Sutter has his name on the Cup as a coach, Yzerman and Nil don't have their name there as GM. -
What the Pistons did in a desperate attempt to get butts in the seats has nothing to do with the Wings. Following their model Shanny Chelios Draper Fesorov McCarty Maltby Kocur Murphy Konstantinov Larionov Fetisov Kozlov and probably even Brown would have their numbers retired. What makes everyone think Yzerman can get the team to a Cup? TB was better than Detroit is now when he took over and they're not any better now than they were then, if not worse than they were. Ditto for Nil. He took a bad team, made them ok, them bad again because of the mess in net. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -
Yeah I still can't believe they used a first on that scrawny Kronwall kid. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

He's more of a figure head at this point. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -
Do they have to protect the max number? Can they say we don't want to protect all these guys? Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

I don't worry a lot about weight for an 18 year old. Kronwall was something like 155 when he was drafted. The kid is 6'1" no reason to think he won't end up around 200 or so. But that means probably 3 years from now. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Virtually every kid taken outside the top 2 or 3 picks, and even a lot of them, are projects to some extent. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

From what I understand there are a ton of players who are about the same level and how you rank them is based more on what you like in a player than any real difference in potential. The 3rd guy taken could be the best one of that group or the 12th guy taken could. Saying you'll never watch again if they take X player is going a tad over board. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Except Holland thinks they could win the Cup if they get a couple good bounces Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -
You don't have to trash a player, but putting a guy with zero goals on the PP for his defensive ability when you still have a shot at the playoffs is beyond stupid Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk
