He's doing less than Kronwall did in his best years and people argue he wasn't a #1. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Depending on where the Wings pick ends up, I might move a pick around 8 for Trouba straight up. Historically, players taken in that range are guys like Trouba, Hamilton, etc, and there's always a chance that you end up with a McIlrath. Losing the chance of getting someone better might be worth getting a sure thing who is still pretty young. I wouldn't add much, if anything, else though.

Make as many excuses for him you want. He's a bad coach. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Maybe, but I don't have much confidence that he will Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

I never said the roster was garbage, just several of them are in terrible contracts. I said several times it should be able to at least push for a playoff spot and that the coaching staff have most of the players playing well below their abilities. Blashill has had 2 years now and hasn't done anything to suggest he can hack it in the NHL. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

I don't see Trouba being worth that. Right now he's the #2 on a non playoff team. Detroit is getting a top 10 pick for the first time in forever, they need to use it and try to hit a home run, either through the draft or by getting a guy who's already a #1.

OK, so you find a team that will take Nielsen for 5 more years if Detroit retains half his salary. Then what? Unless Holland is going to commit to a youth movement instead of overpaying more vets, which he's given zero indication that he'll do that, he's going to just sign another guy to a 4+ year deal, probably at close to $4-5 mil. Then you add the $2.5 mil in retained salary, you're essentially paying the new guy between $6.5 and $7.5 mil a season. As much as I hated the Nielsen contract from day 1, they'd be better off keeping him.

More proof that Holland has lost his mind. Like I said earlier. if success at lower levels was a guarantee of success in the NHL, Pulk and Frk would be scoring 25-30 goals in the NHL right now. He just refuses to admit when he makes a mistake.

If it would cause players to miss games, it's not restricting what they do during their regular working hours. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -

It is addressed. Players aren't allowed to do things that jeopardize their health or play of any other team while under contract during the season. That includes playing for national teams. It has nothing to do with "personal liberty," it's something they agree to when they sign a contract that pays even minimum salary guys as much in one year as most people make in 15 or 20 years. Why shouldn't they. What do the owners get from letting their multimillion dollar employees risk serious injury? Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -

Player contracts outline activities they can and cannot do. Risking injury during the season is a no no. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -

It's the injury risk, not just shutting down for a couple weeks. What happens to the Pens if Crosby and Malkin are playing against each other and they collide and both blow out their knees? Considering the fact that the NHL has negligible benefit from letting them go, it's kind of stupid to do so. -

I'm torn. On one hand I hate seeing Blashill take a team and get the least possible results of the talent. On the other hand, having a shot at the #1 overall is a good thing, and just squeaking into the playoffs when you have a veteran laden team and no real chance at winning is counterproductive to a rebuild.

I prefer my version of PETA, People Eating Tasty Animals I asked a PETA member who was talking about how bad it is to raise animals and how they should all be shut down immediately what would happen to all the animals if they got their way. She said it wasn't realistic to expect them to be shut down immediately. So you're asking for unrealistic things? YOU JUST DON'T GET IT!!!!! -

PETA is just a bunch of liberal hypocrites and ecoterrorists who periodically put out some completely ridiculous statement to get attention. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -

Keeping Blashill is going to hurt plenty, and if Holland really believes the crap he's said lately, keeping him will hurt, too. Would they be able to convince the league he's legitimately hurt, though?
