Bcause you draft a player and depending on how he develops from there, you either sign him to a contract and he plays pro or he doesn't. You don't just give him a pro deal because he's big or you drafted him. McKee never developed, therefore he's probably not going to get a contract.

You realize that A ) he's really not that great of a skater compared to NHL players and B ) you need to be able to do more than hit and punch to play in the NHL, right?

Pudge was no question. Bert changed after he ended a guy's career, no reason to think he was juicing. Chelios on the other hand, you'd have a hard time convincing me he wasn't on something.

You need higher end skill to play possession hockey. They were able to do it because most of the players were good passers, including the D. Now they have a lot of guys who just can't play that style. -

Combination of poor coaching and lack of talent. No top end talent means secondary players playing roles they can't handle, third liners playing second line roles that they can't handle, etc. Blashill isn't an NHL coach, either. The team had absolutely no chemistry or coherent system. -
Bert didn't fight because nobody wanted a part of him. There were lots of times people started acting tough until he got close, then they stfu.

I went back through the 09 draft, no USHL player had been taken in th top 5, and most of the guys taken in the top 15 were on the US development team. Playing in a lesser league hurts.
