Abdelkader is also getting a ton of PP time. 2:33 a game, just behind Zetterberg and just ahead of Nyquist. BTW: the top 3 forwards in terms of PP TOI/gm have 3 goals between them. Abdelkader has 2, Nyquist 1, Zetterberg 0.

Fixed it Seriously, look at the draft history of first round picks. Outside of the top 5-10 picks, there are a lot of guys who end up more like Smith or Sheahan than Weber or Kane
-
I see him as a Dan Cleary type m ore than Abdelkader. Abdelkader needs to play with top players to produce, I think/hope Bertuzzi is going to be able to put up 40-ish points a year while spending time on the 3rd line, too. Abdelkader can't do that.
-
You need scoring, and both of those guys provide it, but they're also pretty one dimensional. They're not as easily replaced as a Frk, Glendening, or Helm, but they're not really core players either

Totems or anything related to indigenous people would be cultural appropriation, it'd never fly nopw. Hell, millennials think that "Friends" is "problematic." Seattle Sasquatch would be interesting. They could get Jack Links to be a major sponsor.

Just say no to Foote Fungus Jr.

There is virtually zero chance Detroit gives him an offer for more than 2 years. I don't think that they give him a QO either unless he plays lights out the rest of the season and has a good attitude off the ice. The team and player can also work out a deal without the team offering the qualifying offer, the QO just allows the team to retain the p[layer's rights.
-
It's also possible for the Kardashians to decide they don't want to be attention whores anymore and get off social media, doesn't mean it will ever happen.
-
The qualifying offer isn't $4 mil spread out over however many years, it's per season. Also, bonuses can only be given in specific situations to rookies or older players on a one year contract I think you'd see a lot more selfish, poor play, and players getting pissed at playing defensive roles. It would also screw over a guy who might not score a lot but does other things to make him valuable, as well as guys who play on bad teams.
-
I don't want a backup quality goalie with a salary of over $4 mil.
-
I would, he's been terrible
-
So you think he's going to get a qualifying offer for $4 mil+ and then take less? Why the F would he do that?

Castaway (How former Wings are doing)

Fixed that When Holland does something worth defending I'll defend him. Those moves have been few and far between the last 3 years though. -
Generally offensive defensemen put up more than 0G 9A in 46 games. The guy can skate, and that's it. He'd be in the minors in most organizations.

Every team has guys like that. Stop acting like Detroit is a failure for not having every draft pick turn into a stud. Quincey was actually a decent defenseman for awhile, the hate he got was because Holland traded a first rounder to get him back after waiving him previously, then he was perceived as overpaid. As far as Sheahan and Jarnkrok go, Sheahan was terrible here. Holland getting anything at all fro him was a good move. Jarnkrok was a desperation move because they had almost all of their centers hurt at once. If he Holland hand't done something and they hand't made the playoffs people would have freaked out. Hell, even last yer people were crying about how important The Streak was. Giving up on it before that was never going to happen -

Bykov could have been a good 2nd pair D here, but he preferred playing in his home country. Had to blame him for that. -
He got 2 picks for a 3rd pair D. His draft position and how long he spent in the organization are irrelevant to his ability. What's to like about Jensen? He's bad positionally and brings almost no offense.
-
Vanek was a completely one dimensional winger who was only effective with mostly offensive zone starts, Green in an offensive d-man. D tend to bring a better return at the deadline than guys lie Vanek. I'm still not sure he's going to fetch a first rounder, but a second and a decent prospect isn't out of the question

Brunner would probably still be in the Swiss league. Not enough work ethic to make it in the NHL. -

Someone's been playing NHL 18 a lot lately -
Whoopdee frickin doo. He scored 127 in 758 NHL games, he wasn't skilled.

People get too caught up in putting players in a box. This guy is a "middle 6 forward." "That guy is a checking line player." It all depends on how lines are structured and who works well with whom. Some guys love having a McCarty/Abdelkader/Homer type on their line, other guys would rather play with two skill players. McCarty wasn't a skilled player by any means, but he spent a lot of time on scoring lines when he wasn't with Draper and Maltby. With the right linemates and in the right system, Abdelkader can be useful on a scoring line, but he'd be good in a checking role too. I think Bertuzzi is going to be the type who can play on any line, but his best usage is on an energy line that goes out stirs up crap, and forechecks.
-
3rd line is middle 6. I'm hoping for a Maltby type. Good PK, agitator, good for 15-ish goals a year. Still a guy you don't hesitate to move if he can bring in a better player
