    Miller vs. Eaves

Hell be a regular somewhere.I doubt he would clear waivers, and he's awesome in the faceoff circle, and an awesome penalty killer. But i also don't see where he fits on this team going forward.

    So what do we call the 26 - 15 - 21 line?

    Predicting our RFA Contracts

If he can stay healthy, I'd agree.I also cant see sheahan, or Tatar for that matter, getting bridge deals worth more than Nyquist, as some have stated. Sheahan because he's our 3rd line center with injuries, who knows if hell stay there or move to wing. Tatar because he's a 3rd line winger, presumably for the next year or two... And I agree on the two year bridge deals, but deke may take a longer contract at a lower number for His age, and his upside could get him paid more when he does come up for a new contract. 4 yrs hell just be entering his prime, the cap will be higher so if he proves he can be a #1d or even a top pairing guy hell be in for a much bigger pay day.

2/6 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Panthers 1

Go to Grosse ille. They supposedly have a black panther there. And they have regular cougars, which are basically panthers, but i think it just might be referring older woman who like younger men. Idk. I have trouble with subtext sometimes. Anyway. Happy to see pav back. Babs comments of "hopefully doing the right thing" have me a bit nervous. But here's to hoping for a great performance out of the gate. And playing hard for 60 mins. LGW!!

    So what do we call the 26 - 15 - 21 line?

Im waiting for an lgw-er to not read this thread, see one of the names in a gdt and incite another dirty harry/~$~ (player formerly known as steve) type situation... Which I wouldn't object to....

I get what you're saying. But a well placed nerf football to the groin from eight feet away would slow a stab attempt down. Or at least be able to catch a blade before it hit body. Then again, for me. It's nerf...... ... ... ... ... Or nothin.

Olympics provide much needed time off for Red Wings

Helm getting rest, datsyuk hopefully getting his legs back in another situation less important (to us), Weiss going through his rehab assignment, Howard (hopefully) finding his form on a larger stage, plus the confidence that comes from representing your country. As long as there isn't any major injuries during the tournament, it could be fruitful. It just seems high risk/high reward, (The higher risk being the obvious) pavel, and Z's back.

    Franzen for edler?

@mabus: That article was from November, and if I recall correctly I seen Nyquists name in a lot of trade rumors... I agree a 1for1 deal is probably not an option, but nyqs value has significantly risen since then, but im thinking he's off the table for a trade with the other kids. Good finds on the article btw. Whether you want Franzen here or not, I don't think he's going anywhere. He's too valuable to us(when healthy) and if we traded him away we wouldn't get that same value back given his injury history. Plus the whole idea of him retiring and sticking us with that cap hit would be problematic. And for those who are gonna say his new team would be responsible for it, its part of the new cba with those long term deals being the responsibility of the team that signed them, which is why every team was afforded two compliance buy outs. However, since the kovalchuk retirement, I'm a little questionable on that. Was his cap hit wiped from njs books because he left the league? Or was I just misinformed as to the cap responsibilities on such deals?
  10. St. Louis deserves it, and it'll probably be his last chance at the olympics.

    Miller vs. Eaves

Eaves. For all the reasons you said, good 5on5, right handed shot, still a great pk-er, better forechecker, awesome shot if/when he uses it. But most importantly IMO, He's much faster. I think the red wings would've chosen him over miller if patty hadn't had the string of injuries and concussion.

Callahan is off his rocker if he thinks his .56 points per game average is gonna net him $7m/yr. Edit:points. Not goals.

    NHL may rethink Sochi

You're comparing something with bare necessities and a small amount of creature comfort to places that don't even have clean water.Like i said, agree to disagree.

    NHL may rethink Sochi

I don't know if you work for russias Olympic p.r. department but you're not convincing anyone differently,There's hundreds of reports about how bad it is, and you're comparing apple's to oranges. No offense, I'm just saying. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and the majority takes the side of it being a disgrace.

    NHL may rethink Sochi

These are world class athletes. I'm not saying they need five star accommodations but clean water isn't a creature comfort. Agree to disagree but sub standard living conditions isn't something Olympic athletes should have to concern themselves with, they should worry about playing to the best of their ability... When's the last time you got a good night's sleep in the cold with no heat? I'd say its a strategy for russia to get an upper hand, but I haven't heard anything about the Russians bunking. And I'm completely fine with them having dorm type rooms, but dorms in this kind of disarray get shut down.

    NHL may rethink Sochi

That is crazy they were the only candidate in the final vote, and in the pictures I'm seeing of Olympic village it has two good size beds, and looked very well put together.

Vets over the Kids?, not any more eh Babs.

Weiss wasn't anywhere as bad as them. He was just invisible, not good, not bad, just there.

At least prisons are secure, and theres potable water. Plus that was 34 yrs ago, the standard of living for the average person has risen dramatically since then, not to mention that of a professional/Olympic athlete.

    NHL may rethink Sochi

I read something on bleacher report where you can't flush toilet paper, theres no heat, the waters not suitable for your face and is yellow If its working at all, and they're killing hundreds of wild dogs. Ha. It seems like a third world country.
