I hope sheahans alright. Another injury to someone actually playing good tough hockey would suck. I wonder who'd be the next call up, Callahan?

    Leaders need to be leaders

The opening post was an idea. Posters start the topic to get more info/discuss the info. Maybe they were impressed or couldn't disregard what was said. In which case, I want to discuss everything with people like the o.p. Someone who has their own opinion but is open enough to ideas to not judge or disregard an opinion with merit as here say. That's a beautiful thing.

    Almqvist or Backman

    1/20 GDT: Blues 4 @ Red Wings 1

You must be new here Ha. If you came here to be cerebral, go somewhere else. This is panic country. Theres bats everywhere, and all I've got is a suitcase full of Pavel datsyuk. With no way to get him back into the system.

    Injury Updates

We've been playing well almost all year. The problem is, as wings fan, most of whom are pretty damn knowledgeable and schooled in the ways of the org. We judge the play subjectively. When Pavels out, we expect less. When hanks our we expect even more less. Our standards are lax because our team is depleted. Were literally missing EVERY expected center, but were still playing well, given our lineup. It looks like we're playing really responsibly, but I fear I only think that because I'm used to them playing horrid hockey, and without the benefit of hindsight(and improved play) I can't see as many mistakes. We need pav. We need Alfie(this season) And we need Weiss, and we need him to come back playing like a first line center gracious enough to play on a team where he can play against second pairings.

    Leaders need to be leaders

Wait.If youre here.... Who's guarding the bridge? And z was just physically outmatched vs the blues. case in point that cross checking penalty, usually he's stronger on the puck than the d or his opposing center is strong, as for the giveaways... Pavel datsyuk himself has had turnovers, granted he usually goes and steals it back himself. That whole first line aside from Abby was just no match physically for the blues. I haven't seen the ice time but at some points sheahan and glendennings lines were out against the backes line, not saying they're stronger than z it just shows how tough the blues team is to match up against. They're built big, physical, and deep, and imo were caught in between trying to build/retool our team to a balance of size (with some skill) and our old ultra skilled small line ups. Were losing because of lack of NHL caliber talent due to injuries, and were giving up wayyy too many shots and quality scoring chances. They're winning face-off battles, starting with the puck, but still allowing upwards of 40, 50, shots on our goal. You can't win like that. I agree that he was used wrong, But Tootoos not in their game-plan. So continually throwing his name into posts doesn't do much but rile up those who think he's the answer to every problem. Edit: Thats not a bad idea though. Throw him alongside skill, let him get on a tear scoring and throwing his body around just to raise his value so we can move him. He's a heart and soul guy, seems to be an awesome teammate, and I like him so i wanna see him get another chance somewhere he'd be in the franchises plans for their future. He deserves that. But no ones gonna touch him with that salary.

    Blessing in disguise?

I just edited my last post to specify, but the compliance buy outs were for contracts signed before the new CBA was put in.

    Blessing in disguise?

You cant use our remaining compliance buy out on contracts signed after the new CBA.So Like I said. AROUND 2 million a year, aside from the two years it would cost us 600,000. Still not attractive numbers. Just to get rid of him, the cap is going up but that could argue the point for keeping him and buying him out.

    Blessing in disguise?

Sheahan Only has one goal. In eight games. I'm not saying Andy's bad, but sheahans stronger, faster, grittier and has better hands. Once again Andy's awesome on the pk. Awesome. And he's good one faceoffs, but so is sheahan, and he is a good 3rd line center capable of playing 2nd line c. And if I'm reading correctly, one post said to buy out Weiss in order to bring in a guy like him, or helm, or as some argued Andy. Im not trying to start waves just saying why eat 2 mil in cap when we really don't have to. I think Weiss will be fine once he's healthy and gets back into playing shape. But I absolutely agree it is obnoxious to see the ups and downs of this forum based off of a win or a loss, I've said that before.

Happy as hell helms back, has anyone seen lines?
  13. jimmyemeryhunter

    Blessing in disguise?

For the record if we choose to buy out Weiss well still be responsible for around 2 million a year for the remainder of his contract.

He's got an in person hearing. does the general rule of it'll be five + games for players given hearings apply to coaches too?

    Blessing in disguise?

Sheahan looks more ready than jurco, and jurco only looked a little out of place vs the rangers and last game vs the kings once maybe twice a game. Sheahan absolutely should be on the team full time now, and theres no way he's not here next season, and as much as I love and want him to stay jurcos waiver exempt and could use the dominant line time in gr. But imagine having a healthy center lineup of Pav, weiss, helm, and sheahan. As good as Andy is on the p.k. I think itd be dumb to say he's half as good as sheahan. And even if Weiss doesn't pan out or doesn't stay healthy, glendennings a good fourth line c, with real good pk skills and he's got grit, and something Andy doesnt have especially, speed. I'm excited. But worried with what they'll end up doing.

They should switch nyquist and jurco, nyquist is too small for the kings top line.

10 former players sue NHL for concussions

The NFL's was stopped by a judge because they thought it wasnt enough money, that some of the players wouldn't get the money to cover their medical bills. NHL will have to pay. The question is just how much.
