Eh.I do and I don't. I mostly wanted to use the phrase intangibulls**t because I thought it was funny. I agree Toews isn't a top 10 player in the league skill wise, but he's good to great in every quantifiable category on top of what he brings as a captain, which you can't really put a dollar figure on. I would be a bit pissed if we had drafted him, and had to pay him that much, but that anger would be mitigated by the fact that he had just brought us 3 cups recently so I can't say how I would feel for sure about it, because it didnt happen. So I could care less about how much Toews got. If Larkin become the player Toews is today. I'll be ecstatic, and I understand that well probably be shelling out the kinda money to him as Toews got, because of the contracts that are being handed out now.

I can see where you're coming from... but those contracts are what keep bringing about the lockouts, which it seems like were right back on track for the next one once this CBA expires.So much so that people are laying out contracts preparing for the next one, like tarasenkos dropping to 5m for the year the cbas up. Its all crazy.

I don't think its so much the league protecting the teams, more so giving the lower market teams a fair/better shot at keeping its own players with the incentive of that extra year.

I'm just now getting to the point of familiarity with the people on this site, to where I have to read who's commenting before I read the actual post. It really helps me figure out the context of the conversation. There's a handful of posters where this is unnecessary, because their personalities are so strong it bleeds through the text.

Its the captains job to reel his team on on the ice.Sidney Crosby, for all the talent that he has, is not a good captain. The way matt Cooke, James Neal, and a multitude of other players on those teams that would go out of their way to hurt players... Its on the captain. And when you see Crosby whining and crying to the refs, diving, and doing stupid stuff it sets the tone for the rest of your players...
