23 man roster set... say hi to your 2014/15 Wings

Replace Abby with Gus and I'm fine with this lineup.

    Krys Barch unloads his frustrations

I sometimes hear this from my girlfriend.
  3. The roster is almost set with 3 more cuts to make with Dats on IR and Mrazek being sent down, that leaves one cut left. This article doesn't even entertain the thought that Cleary can be cut, instead it mentions sending Jurco down. So who will it be? Cleary? Jurco? Ouellet? Lashoff? http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2014/10/red_wings_stephen_weiss_feels.html Henrik Zetterberg-Pavel Datsyuk (IR)-Justin Abdelkader Gustav Nyquist-Darren Helm-Johan Franzen Tomas Tatar-Riley Sheahan-Tomas Jurco Drew Miller-Luke Glendening-Joakim Andersson *Daniel Cleary-Stephen Weiss-Andrej Nestrasil* - all in gray no contact / scratch jerseys Niklas Kronwall-Jonathan Ericsson Danny DeKeyser-Brendan Smith Kyle Quincey-Xavier Ouellet Brian Lashoff-Jakub Kindl Jimmy Howard Jonas Gustavsson

I don't know who Krys Barch is... and when someone tells me who he is, I'm going to become very angry once I understand why he's so angry...

23 man roster set... say hi to your 2014/15 Wings

Doh! lol Nah, I was posting an oft repeated Babs quote that he's thrown out multiple times since January. I wasn't sure if any other readers would know that these are the best players. It was really for the readers benefit so they would know, in case there was any doubts they may have had as to who are the best players are. So your dog then would wake you up, and then add, "...and we'll only live in fire-proof houses" - Rick Zombo (he would actually quote you at that point, right after barking, and before jumping out the window).

23 man roster set... say hi to your 2014/15 Wings

Hi...where exactly are you going with your rant, and why, what's your point? I've just posted a factual direct link from the newspaper. Do you beat your dog for alerting you to a fire too? This is the NHL mandated set roster that needs to be filed by 5 pm today, that's why I created this post, 3 months of speculation is over. The only rotation in and out of game day this Thursday will be the 3 gray sweaters who may not play of Cleary, Weiss and Nosehole. But thank you for creating assumptions about a quote someone else made that I posted and what I was 'actually' implying. I had no idea that was what I was thinking...are you my wife? You must be my wife.

Will Cleary make the roster? (poll)

Who waid Oulette was staying? Roster just set, Oulette sent down: http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2014/10/red_wings_assign_defenseman_xa.html

Will Cleary make the roster? (poll)

I've coined a few names but just use it among friends. Tatar is Tater, or The Tater. Tater Salad. Or just Tater, it seems fitting. Nosek in some slavic languages means little nose and Netrasil sounded like nose hole, so The Nose Brothers has taken effect.

Datsyuk to play Thursday? Weiss to be a healthy scratch?

Weiss has a NTC. So unless he waives it, he's not going anywhere.

TSN new website a mess ?

The new website is terrible, designed for mobile users and could care less about viewing it on a computer. I have a 17" screen and only 2 articles show up at a time, and nothing else. If I wanted to endlessly and mindlessly scroll I would join Facebook. But since I want my hockey news in a nice concise, easy to spot and see 10-15 different links and stories at once, I have stopped using them. Yahoo did the same thing, their site is a terrible mess I can't use.

    Are the wings underrated?

Anyone consider that perhaps we are 'overrated' because we're biased die hard fans? We're a middle of the pack team at best, granted the last 2 years we finished #2 and 3 in man games lost (or something like that). But the Wings are almost a decade removed from the last Cup, FA's no longer want to come to play in Detroit, and our coaching and other leaders leave for greener pastures for a chance to win. In all fainess though, I do think the man games lost has been the biggest problem, when compared to the other teams with similar losses, they are all bottom feeder teams with the exception of Pittsburg and Anaheim. Dekeyser signed. 2 yrs $2.187 million AAV

Anyone see this: "What’s delaying any sort of an agreement is the lack of other players to use as comparables in DeKeyser’s situation." From The Detroit News: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20140911/SPORTS0103/309110110#ixzz3D7ETeI49 That's a bold statement to make with no sources or backup material.

'District Detroit': Red Wings' New Arena Details Released

This whole unveiling reminds me of this:
  15. Regarding the helmet rule, I believe this happened in the last Olympics, where a player was in his defensive corner battling another player and his helmet was knocked off. He had to go get his helmet and couldn't keep fighting for the puck, as a result with no one defending the player he walked right in and scored. I've tried to find this video but can't remember the 2 countries playing, but it was the first time I saw anything like it, but this is the worst case scenario of this new rule.
  16. Maybe they'll resign Bert and Sammy too as insurance policies again. Putting the band back to together...reminds me of this:

    Blessing in disguise?

Perhaps not landing any big names or D men this off season will be a blessing in disguise and allow a chance for the younger kids buried to be given some call up time to see what they can do. If this last season showed us anything, we probably have a few more diamonds in the ruff.

Fantasy Player Tree "We got seven left-hand D. I love (to have a righty), but how do you get it?" Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said over the weekend at the NHL entry draft in Philadelphia. "It's great to have this fantasy; like (general manager) Kenny Holland would tell you, there's no tree. I've been all over him, but there's no tree to grab them off of, so we'll get what we get." Here...here's your goddamned tree assholes: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=724642&navid=nhl:topheads

Hollands new contract a no brainer?

We blew it with Yzerman, turns out he's becoming a pretty good GM. Look at the wheeling and dealing he's done this past week, very impressive. Although I think the St Louis fiasco could have been avoided, he managed to get a good deal out of it. I doubt he will come back to Detroit with the 4 year contract he has with Tampa. Jim Nill in 2 seasons has turned Dallas around. Meanwhile, Babs and Kenny are still looking for that mythical free agent tree, unable to make a trade while droning on about how these are different times as every serious cup contender made some kind of move to better their team. Any wonder no one wants to come to Detroit?

Alfie informs Wings he wants to return

I'm quoting my own post, fresh off the press: http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2014/06/red_wings_mike_babcock_values.html "We got seven left-hand D. I love (to have a righty), but how do you get it?" Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said over the weekend at the NHL entry draft in Philadelphia. "It's great to have this fantasy; like (general manager) Kenny Holland would tell you, there's no tree. I've been all over him, but there's no tree to grab them off of, so we'll get what we get." Well, Babs, Babbers, Babbaganoosh... maybe if you guys stopped looking up trees every year for a right handed defensman and talked to other GMs you might find one. The magical place where our competition finds these players is on the end of a telephone, that thing with buttons on your desk, and when you press these buttons, something magical happens, you might get a chance to talk to someone who has a right handed D. If it makes you feel better, the other guy can tell you he grew an extra D on a magical tree. Right handed D available in some capacity: Niskanen Byfuglin Ehroff Zidlicky Boyle Stralman While you're looking up that magical tree, maybe you guys can grow a pair of your own little D's and pull off some deals / trades.

It is a classic.... History is blueprint / roadmap of where we came from to help determine where we are going. How I feel whenever Holland / Babs opens their collective mouth nowadays:
