Sure we can trade for trade the farm for Edler but how does that help if our top 4 C's are Anderrson, Sheahan, Emmerton, Glendening? Also don't you think there is a chance Nashville knows Jarnkrok may go back to Sweden? That's probably why the pick is a little higher than people would've hoped. I highly doubt Vancouver would trade a guy like Edler for a guy they know might not even play in NA next year. Doesn't make sense for them.

Goc isn't nearly as good as Legwand. MacDonald or Diaz would've been decent trades, but with Andersson playing #1C those acquisitions wouldn't have mattered anyway.

What other C, or ANY player for that matter, that got traded today that would've been a better fit as a #1 C? Vanek isn't a C. Moulson isn't a C. Tim Thomas isn't a C. What other options were there?

I don't get this line of thinking at all. if Callie made it clear he wasn't going to stay in the AHL next year then why keep him? It's no different than selling an UFA today. Jarnkrok didn't wanna be in GR and the brass didn't think he could play in Detroit at this stage in his career apparently. So what if he plays in Nashville? At least we got SOMETHING for him rather than just watching him leave on a place to Sweden.

Jarnkrok wasn't making Detroit next year. Sheahan has passed him up obviously and Jarnkrok isn't a 4th line guy. Not his game. So what if he plays for Nashville? He wasn't going to play for us. If he makes Nashville's club good for him, they are in a different conference. No harm.

People comparing Legwand to Weiss. smh... Weiss in 26 games has 2G 2A Legwand in 62 games has 10G 30A Holland said Legwand is going to be our #1 center for awhile between Nyquist and Franzen. So I'm assuming Legwand is #1 for the next 3 weeks while Datsyuk is out. Still gives us a chance to make the playoffs. Certainly a hell of a better chance than Andersson playing #1. IF we make the playoffs we could do some damage. Z-Pav-Alfie Nyquist-Legwand-Franzen Tatar-Sheahan-Jurco Miller - Glendening/Weiss - Abby. I feel a lot more comfortable playing Legwand #2 than Weiss at this point. At least it would allow Z and Pav to play on the same line if we make the playoffs. EDIT: Could also allow us to buy out Weiss this summer and resign Legwand.

If Jarnkrok is indeed leaving for Sweden it's a good deal. Otherwise I stay pissed. I hadn't heard anything about him leaving until today honestly.

Don't mind sending Eaves and the 3rd. It's more of a favor to Eaves than anything, imo. If the prospect is Jarnkrok we riot. Hopefully it's something like Ferraro. Doubt it's Emmerton the guys are saying it's someone in GR sleeping. I think I read Emmerton got called up last night or this morning.

I know they are sitting, but it doesn't mean Babcock won't put them in instead of bringing some kids up from GR. I don't know what's wrong with Pav's knee but I would assume he needs some sort of surgery or at least a good deal of rest. I feel like he probably needs some sort of surgery but is trying to tough it out for the team in hopes of at least playing a few games. Can you imagine how much easier, yet tough to swallow, Hollands job would be right now if both Pav and Z were out the rest of the season? I don't think we would be talking about a trade at all, if we did it would be more selling than buying, imo.

Either way. I'd rather bring a kid up and see what they have. Can't see us making the playoffs with all these injuries. Build for the future. Let the kids play and grow. Send Quincey and Kindl to some poor saps for picks and try to get Alfie to a cup caliber team. Bring up one of the young kids to play D and Jarnkrok or whoever to fill the other role Alfie leaves. Go ahead and let Pav have surgery so he is 100% for next year along with Z and Weiss. Nyquist - Sheahan - Franzen Tatar - Jarnkrok - Jurco Abby - Andersson - Pulk Miller - Glendening - Eaves Kronwall - Big E Dekeyser - Smith Lashoff - Oullet Looks ugly, but I'd rather watch the kids than Cleary, Sammy or Bertuzzi.

Welp I hate being negative but if Helm is going to be out for any length of time we should find someone to unload Alfie on as rental. He could always resign next season if he really likes it in Detroit but I want the guy to have a chance to win a cup. Get a pick, prospect idc. We aren't going anywhere with Pav, Z, Helm, Weiss all hurt. I had faith until Helm went down. Let Alfie get a chance to win a cup and bring Pulk up to see what he's got for the rest of the year. Play the kids and build towards next year because we don't have the ammo to make a big trade with so many guys hurt.

I've missed a few pages because I just got home from work, but I think Kesler is being underrated and Helm is being overrated by many people on here. Seriously Helm+Tatar+1st is Weber material? Yeah...ok. I guess that means Tatar+ Nyquist +1st is good for Crosby right? People calling Kesler injury prone really? He has only missed 5 or more games in 3 of 9 years and without doing more research i'm guessing the 1st year he only played 28 games because of being a call-up. In that case we should just trade Z, Pasha, Franzen and Howard since they can't stay healthy. If we don't get Kesler i'm okay with that, but we have a logjam of bottom six centers (Sheahan, Andersson, Helm, Emmerton, Glendening). I'd give up Helm in a deal for Kesler without much thought depending on what the other pieces are. Obviously if the Pens are going to offer something crazy then by all means let them have him because I like all of our kids,
