Liked the first one wonder if under the rules now if they woulod allow in nhl...progress and all. Nice fakeout spin o rama. The second one was just a player getting on top of the goalie and stick handling around seen many players do similiar...do it all the time in the video game lol..

    Renney out, Granato in

Man that video...brought back the memories... we have not had a balls tough team for a while...(kronwalling doesn't count imo too singular events)..emphasis team..I remember when we had tough bottom sixers.....Lapointe and McCarty...this is exactly what we need for the east...bangers that can forecheck (and drop the mitts if need be our pp is NO enforcer anymore) so we get offensive zone puck possesion, with a mix of skill players....yeah and granato maybe he can bring something a little bit more passion like in that video wouldn't hurt this team. Now we have a mix of skill players and damn near also rans. WIth a youth movement of sorts. Everyone blows up about the speed and skill game around here, but the reason wings did good against chicago in playoffs wasn't because they were blowing away and overmatching skill, but because they played like it was the playoffs and they were the underdog..so they took that role..had fun and made life hell on the opposing team..by doing exactly the opposite of what we do now. In that chicago series, they were hitting, clutching, grabbing, holding, tugging from behind on jerseys, whatever it took and whatever they thought they could get away with. Because they were already underdogs and took that attitude into the playoffs. And that is the same thing killing a speed and skill team in the playoffs. The noncalls on the holding, grabbing and clutching. Then it's a turnover and the other team scores. To me a speed and skill team is fine for a show, in the playoffs you need men not skill boys, guys who can make an impact and fight their way through the noncalls and make a play happen. Regular season is Montreal hockey and playoffs are Boston hockey. We need some impact players to be successful.

What is the plan with Mrazek?

Mraz will be the backup next year and get a heavier dose of NHL games, and after that he isn't automatically the backup in the following seasons and should probably get a shot at a starting job should jimmy flounder. Everything's a process his time will come. Kid looks good but from watching the games with the wings he looks like he still needs work before being a full time starter imo. But looking to see him in the lineup next year.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

Tried that (sorta) with toots and they buried him.. fan satisfaction is lower on the priority list than say keeping the streak alive..and so on.. as long as I have lurked here a 50+ pager thread means disappointed fans usually nowhere as close to even an upgrade coming...kept an eye on moves all day and thought surely Holland was coming with something esp when the small pieces fell but no.. here's to last minute negotiations..else it will be sad days

    UFA day looking up

This is kinda what I am thinking for a decent day considering KH behavior sometimes, as he may not do much ( note: not my best wish scenario, not that I wouldn't like something better than this just a guess and I don't think Iggy is coming) sign Boyle, Erhoff, and Iggy somehows Lines: Nyquist - Z - Iggy Abby - Dats - Alfie Legwand - Weiss - Franzen Glendening - Helm - Sheahan edit: the Myers kid from buff is interesting by the comments their gm has made, and what some of their fans think is that he is worth a 1st, dman, and a forward or plug may be too much D: Kronwall - Ericsson Dekeyser - Erhoff Smith - Boyle assuming we lose Tatar and some D men My first line thread be gentle And yes makes us older I noticed some folks not fond of it. A short term with a mix of good vets and good kids may get us further. And better goaltending.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

from a poster on nhl.com : "Pretty misleading title. We didn't pay any ransom for him and as mentioned it's King's. Furthermore we have no recapture penalty for Gaborik which means that if he decides to retire in 2 years, he is off the books at zero cap hit. Therefore we just got Marion Gaborik the leading goal scorer in the NHL postseason (the only real season) for as many years as we want him at 4.875 cap hit. Put that in your pipe and smoke it." If that's true then it was a good deal for Kings.

    Petr Mrazek

Love this kid I see some Hasek in him and the czech/slovak side of my ancestry pulls for him. I think he will be the backup for sure next year and starter if Jimmy has another bad season (which I hope doesn't happen) and Mraz beats him out in camp. At any rate it's nice to have him ready to call up if we need him.

    Joe Thornton to the Wings?

Quote : " That's meant to be sarcastic, but actually, all that s*** with the site bugs me, too." Yeah I know kind of crappy way to introduce oneself slammin on basically a gift service actually meant that to be soft reproach of course Im grateful for the providers and opportunity to comingle here. I guess the frustration of seeing the opposite of what I was taught in coding (user friendliness) flung all over the web every day slipped out. My apologies. Also I wanted to add I was a partial ticket season holder for a couple of years with the "Trash" (Thrashers) as well as tv viewer. I bring this up because occasionally I see talk of Jets players. I am good with Kane, Jokinen, and Trouba. Slater was a heart and soul guy for the thrash and Thorburn did the enforcing. Wheeler has some flashes. On D Bogo seemed so so, Enstrom struggled at times. Lehtonen was a stud. And of course Heatley and Kovalchuk had their moments, scoring and getting them in the playoffs. Just what I remember.

    Joe Thornton to the Wings?

Hello everyone. First post, but I have been a lurker browsing this forums for the last few years. Wings fan since 1995. Many times I have been tempted to post and join but finally committed. One thing is I have issues all the time with this site and its ads on multiple computers at multiple places like work and home, etc. Really torques me off. I am a CS grad and A+ certified and been in comps since the 80s, don't like the format here, just my 2 cents. Back on topic, NO to thornton. We all know what we need, it's been said many times here. A top six forward that can score and fight (esp now that Bert is gone), and a top 4 D man with a RH shot that can play on the PP. That should be our top 2 priorities. I don't know who the forward is, I would hope we make a trade. I don't see Mantha being that guy so we need a trade. As for the RH D man, I think P. K. Subban would be an interesting choice. He's wanting a lot of money but he is young, a 5-6 year deal that is setup the right way (pref front loaded with annual amount decreasing over time) might work. He would grow with the kids so I think that part is a fit. Certainly a good PC choice, keyword diversity. May be good for marketing. (Even though I detest PC) Last year when Alfie came, I was hoping for Holland to make an impact trade that would get us near the cup. A guy gives that all up to come to you and you reward him with what, Cleary? To Holland's credit, he hasn't been awful, but TIME IS RUNNING OUT for dats and z, we can't afford to be a it's-business-as-usual team with a so-so mix of players just to be average, we need to win now, youth movement or not. If not, commit to the youth movement and trade them and rebuild. My opinion is we get those 2 priorities I mention, even if it isn't Subban, we compete for the cup. A bunch of declining veterans, UFA, RFA, or what, is not the answer. And the UFA market doesn't impress me this year anyway. Ok flame away lol. Just kiss me before you shaft me lol. Seriously though, I think the majority of you guys do a good job of breaking down the issues facing the team and look forward to talking with you here.
