What a good answer! I'm very worried how this will shake out seeing how loyal and respectful we are to our players even when everyone knows they're done.

I don't post much for the sole reason is I have too many negative things to say about this years team and I'm usually a happy go lucky, positive guy. I just have to say that whenever Jimmy gets the net I immediately think, ok are we going to be able to score 4 tonight? WTH happened to #35? He was a good goalie but now he's not even a capable back up! I honestly think one of the kid goalies in GR should be called up because every point is so dang important. (I know there's been some lapses tonight but Howie has looked lost on the last two)

Tons of great posts tonight guys, I do want to say that Helm was his usual beastly self. He wins so many battles that I think he's going to lose. I'd swear the guy was 6'3.

The game I've watched the most is the 97' WCF Game 2 against the Avs. In my mind it was the most clutch performance of Yzerman's career, in a game that made or broke whether we finally got a cup. No way we wanted to go down 0-2 against a team like that. First the incredible slap pass to 91 on the PP, then the end to end wallet bank shot. I can't forget #5's save either. Yeah that one dude.

Top six in PPG in addition to being tops in countless other facets of the game at 36 and banged up. The case can be made for best overall player on earth still. Really freaking good.

I also thought that was one of the worst playoff games I've seen him play. Unfortunately he had some stinkers like that in the regular season too. We really need him to be a threat and our #2 punch after Pavel. He seems to have artists block or something. He goes around the net too much relying on his awesome puck protection skills or fires bad angle shots on net. That's it. I would love to see more creativity from him. Work the give and goes (sp?) sink into the quiet areas and get that good one timer off. I mean c'mon Z it works on my NHL 15! Lol.

Wow bold statement! I love his game right now. When I saw him take the face off with 12 seconds left I just thought of Draper in his prime. Just a guy you can count on to work hard and D the * up.

I think you're right. Weiss probably out. Who else? I have to say I thought Sheahan was one of our worst players tonight. I hope he steps it up, he's too good not to.

Luke with the last clear, very fitting. What a player he turned into, Babcock favored the guy for a reason early on. I really think this is the first time I've ever seen the Wings do what always used to happen to them. Get dominated but win on the back of a superhuman goalie effort!!!

The last time they boo' done of their defenseman out of town it worked out pretty well for us!

I really thought I was missing something when Marchenko was sent down but in my eyes he's better in every facet of the game and deserved a full time spot on the team over Smith. I only say Smith because Quincey is our best crease clearing Dman and wouldn't want him out for Marchenko. I do think that Smith has largely played very well most nights though.

I really have been wondering what you guys think about this topic and if the following would have my fanhood questioned? This has nothing to do with his recent struggles but ever since the two San Jose series I am not a fan of our goalie. In my own opinion, the bigger the moment, the worse he plays. Horrible timed goals against is my main problem but he can't play the puck or really stop a breakaway often. I know we are proud of what the Wings did in 7 games against a better Blackhawks team, however I think Howard should have completely shut the door with 3 tries to do so. Also, I dont like to post in the GDT when all I want to do is post negatively. So I guess what I'm wondering is am I not considered a good or true fan when I've hated such a big part of our team for so long? By the way, obviously I would want to win a cup and would be happy if Howard won it for us it's not an agenda against him.

I couldn't agree more. I don't want to get flagged for going too far OT with a subject like Bertuzzi being so touchy but I have to admit his story was pretty awful. He never wanted to end a poor guys career and have his own career diminished in the process. Big Bert was never the same. He was awesome. (Especially in shootouts)

Sadly I just lump this Cole news in with all the other terrible things that have happened to our beloved Wings. Modano was supposed to come in and give us one of the best third lines in hockey. If I remember correctly Igor Grigorenko was supposed to be a special young player and was never the same after a terrible car wreck. Jiri Fischer was going to be at worst the best #3 Dman in the NHL and his heart stops. Franzen has been labeled a sucky floater by most (including me) it turns out he's probaby had 10 concussions or something. I understand his playing timid now. #16. I know injuries are part of life but we've had some awful things happen that really get me down thinking about it.

Smith was pretty terrible on that last goal. Marchenko should be here more than Ferraro.

Man oh man I want that that third line to score a goal tonight.

I had to change the channel after Howard predictably didn't save that breakaway. I hate to be a fair weather fan but this has been a nerve racking stretch for me. I'll keep up with all your posts and hope we get a W today.
