Sad thing about Joe Louis is that during WW2 he went overseas and raised money for the war effort and then was taxed heavily for it. He had to come out of retirement where he lost to Rocky Marciano. He then became a ref and was very bad at it. In his day though the Brown Bomber was great. He had his "bum of the month club" knocking out guys like it was easy. One of the all time greats. -
Recently on Hockey Central an ex GM said that Semin "has no soul." .Do we really want that guy on the Wings? Semin has always been all talent and no heart.

Don Sweeney reminds me of Garth Snow when he first became Isles GM. Flying by the seat of his pants. No planning. I think Neely has something to do with the knee jerk GMing which is going on in Boston right now. I'm still shaking my head at the Hamilton trade.

Kick tires. Explored market. Prices too high. Too much term. We like our kids. Getting Franzen back is like signing a free agent. Pav returning in November is like making a trade. Any free agent signing has to make sense. It has to be the right fit. We're going with our younger players. We need them to take another step. -
Holland will not sign anyone. Too much term and too many dollars for average players. Kenny will not want another UFA mistake like Weiss.

They 're-signed Quincey after losing out on Boyle, Stralman, Niskanen, Ehrhoff. I'm not losing sleep when we lose out on Green, Franson, Martin and Ehrhoff.

I love this pick by Kenny. All he has to do is round out his defensive game and he'll be ready in a year or two. Grand Rapids is the perfect place for this kid.

Kronner was also small when he was drafted. Worked out very well I'd say. We can use the German shepherd on the power play. The dog is a tank. Screen the goalie. Score goals. Win games. If the dog has stupid speed, we are talking dynasty here.

He'll likely clear waivers and be playing in Grand Rapids next season. -
I just don't see how Weiss fits on this team. Where does he play? Third line with Sheahan and Pulkkinen/Jurco? 4th line with Miller and Glendenning? If Mule comes back it complicates things even more.
