I suggested a week ago the Wings could trade Weiss to Arizona. Kenny would likely have to eat half his salary though. Weiss to Arizona or Carolina at 2.5 mil a season is better than 4.9 mil a season. 3 years of dead cap space is better than 6 years of dead cap space which would be the case if Weiss is bought out. Plus Weiss has a no move clause. I have to think he'd waive it to play on a team where he'd be a regular player getting lots of playing time.

Avery always struck me as a guy who thought he was more valuable to a team than he really was. I'll always be grateful that Kenny used him as the main piece to trade for Mathieu Schneider. He had some very good seasons for the Wings.

Franson will be like Niskanen was last July 1st. Severely overpaid. He wouid make our defense better. I see Kenny making an offer but in the end I can see him in Dallas for something like 7 years at 42 million with a full no trade clause.

Now a guy like Shawn Thornton circa 2011 would help the Wings 4th line. Tough guy who can take a regular shift and be effective in his role. I'm also a fan of Boll.

I hope Mantha isn't traded. But Red Wings GM Damien Cox says he's going to the Leafs so now I'm sad.

I'll agree that Andersson would not be missed very much. He will likely be gone to make room for Callahan and Ferraro. There's nothing wrong with having a tough guy who will stick up for his teammates. But he has to bring more to the ice than just his fists. He has to be able to skate somewhat effectively. Be able to take a regular shift without hurting his team. The days of wasting a roster spot on guys like Scott Parker are over. Cool pic of Crosby, Malkin, Fleury and Letang!

I agree that Phaneuf will likely not be traded to Detroit now that BABS is there. However I do think he will be traded. It's almost as if they have to trade him now to signify their re-build is taking place.

Well he's just as good as anyone else out there (Green, Franson, Ehrhoff, Phaneuf, Martin, etc). I wonder what we'd have to give up for him.

I just worry about Wiz not cracking the Ducks line-up in the playoffs. I know the Ducks have a deep blue line but I'd be worried about acquiring a guy who was a healthy scratch in the playoffs.
