I remember a Calgarian friend of mine saying how mad he was when the Flames lost to Tampa, and they showed the streets of Tampa (or whatever Floridian city they were showing) empty, meanwhile... Downtown Calgary was as packed as never... which one is a more "traditional" market?

As I read your comment, just realized that it is a Hockey contest, and not an overall test designed to see how fast a human being can be on the ice, but rather to see how well a hockey player does in a designated course and under that set of conditions

I've been watching some past ASG fastest skater competition, and even when Fedorov faced him, Gartner slipped a bit defeated Fedorov. So at those speeds it get's harder to make those tight turns. Just look at how the rinks for speed skating are designed and you'll notice a flaw on the NHL speed contest. If they had a bit more ice to make the turn they could built up greater speed, since most of them don't push when approaching it and just glide with the momentum they've build up...if that makes any sense.

Yep there were two different competitions involving shootouts. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=800324 The first was the Honda shootout challenge,in which fans vote for the best shootout gimmick. And the second, Discover NHL Shootout, which was divided into 3 sets of 6 skaters and 1 goalie (18 skaters and 3 goalies per conference) and had 2 minutes to take as many shootout attempts as they could. In which Larkin ended up 2-2 Round 1 Round 2
