That youtube user Awood40 is a fricking godsend to Wings fans. I have many of beers and watched many of videos late into the night bc of that guy and his channel. I owe him a drink for all the cool stuff he uploads.

Uhhhh, as this forums official octopus thrower I need to state what already has been said. These are bought from a seafood store in Royal Oak, already dead. This is such a reach from PETA that I can't take it serious. I am actually shocked about how many people on here think the whole thing is stupid.

Although I agree the name is lame, and wish it was something more directly connected to Wings hockey, everybody in Toledo was up in arms when they named the new Mud Hens park, "Fifth Third Field." Then the new hockey arena was named the, "Huntington Center." Now people don't even think twice about. This will probably pass as well. Maybe.

If that's the case then I quit being a fan of this team.

So, I am going to the game on Wednesday against the Flyers and my friend and I plan on throwing our first Octopi on the ice. I have researched for hours and think I have the proper etiquette down. 1. Boil for 30 minutes to get rid of the smell and to avoid it sticking to the ice. 2. I will have it in a plastic bag which I will then put in a big brown shipping envelope, which I will tuck in my belt/jeans with a baggy jersey over top, 3. Will throw one at the very end of the national anthem to get the fans and our boys pumped. 4. Will throw the other after a Wings goal. (Or maybe after a fight?) I know the big no no is definitely do not disrupt the flow of the game. I.E. during play or before a face-off. Although I feel like I have everything I need to know, what scares me is I still see stories and have seen videos of people getting kicked out by security and even ticketed. That's the last thing I want to happen. Does anybody have any experience with this? Or know anybody who has done it? I have a feeling it might be just the luck of the draw on what security personal is around you and if they're in a good mood that day. I sure as hell don't wanna get kicked out after the National Anthem. If anybody has any tips or advice I would love to hear from you! Thanks and GO WINGS.

Hi, I am not a hater at all and LOVE the wings, but I honestly think some of you are a little off on Abby. I don't think he was playing playoff hockey, he was playing reckless in my opinion. First the slew foot was just plain stupid and dirty. The scrum at the end although looked nice, looked more like a frustrated player absolutely losing his mind. Honestly I don't think he connected on any punches, all to the helmet and back of the head. I think Blunden got messed up when he ran head first into his own player immediately before that. Haha thanks man. The best place to buy is Superior Fish in Royal Oak. (They are the unofficial/official place.) Call them ahead of time and place an order. It's $4.95 a pound. They will boil it for you and put them in a bag and a box. They will even supply you gloves. As I tell everyone, if you do it, please do it at the right times so we can keep this tradition going for years to come. Throw during the last line of the National Anthem, (or after). Haha yeah I played travel baseball growing up but haven't played anything but beer league baseball in many years, so I was very nervous about even getting it over the glass. lol.

I had to record off my phone because I couldn't figure out how to rip the video in high quality. Hahaha, I swear I originally was just going to throw it and run, but I was just too hyped by the crowd reaction, and I kid you not a couple Flyers at the blue line looked over at me, (or just in the general direction at which it was thrown.) and I just started acting like a mad man. Almost like, "That's right! Come on! Let's GOOOOO!" I'm pretty sure I blacked out. I didn't have an usher or security guard even say a single word to me. They tolerate the tradition as long as you respect the game. Throw it exactly at the time I did or immediately after a goal and you are fine. Don't ever disrupt the flow of the game or you're gonna get kicked out, fined, etc. Which I understand and respect.

I appreciate the response. I know getting in is no problem and I'm not really worried about that. I'm more worried about after throwing it.....Here are some videos of people getting kicked out. It looks like in both cases it was before a faceoff which may be the reason.

Is it me or has Ken Daniels seemed to be unusually uninterested these past few games? Not that I blame him but usually he is full of energy.

I'm gonna be the lame one and not vote because I like them both for different reasons. Nyquist to me is more consistent and has the better chance at being a leader and top line player. Tatar is like a great sidekick that can be clutch for his team with excitement and his flash. His enthusiasm may bother some but I absolutely love it on a team that has so many laid back players. P.S. I had a choice to choose between a Nyquist and Tatar jersey and I chose Tats.....maybe that's my answer?
