My favorite part about this deal s that it essentially forces additional changes to our defense moving forward. There's a lot of pieces for KH to play with along with our forward depth. Kindl should definitely be moved soon, but I think we hold onto Quincey and wait for an opportunity to ship him to a team needing depth mid-season for like a 5th or 6th round pick.

Offer sheets are tricky. At the deadline a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Hamilton would have been a steal. An additional 1st makes it a little pricey, but it isn't a negotiation. I think I would still do it because the luxury of being able to package a defenseman/prospect for a forward and/or picks would still be present.

I'd throw that kind of money at Hamilton in a heartbeat.

Dude, that adds up to like 11 whole days of watching the Maple Leafs play.Yikes. Franson is the UFA I'd like to see us sign. I admittedly haven't seen much of him at all but from what I have heard/read about him, he's the type of guy that can block shots and clear the front of the net. He's also capable of logging a lot of minutes and as a RHD he fills a void on our PP that's been there since Rafalski left. Cleaning up our defensive corps has to be priority #1 this summer. Keep Kronwall and Dekeyser for sure, sign a UFA defenseman (Franson please), and call-up Marchenko full-time. That would leave 2 of Smith, Ericsson, Kindl, and Quincey out and preferably we could package one of the 2 "keeper" guys for an upgrade there. A lot to ask for, sure. I just want to see Kenny shake things up back there. Hell, I'd take Mike Green at this point.
