    Let's hope not. The team should be better than last year. Maybe there'll be a bit of an Yzerman honeymoon and they'll be .500+ in their first 10 or so. Time will tell.

    There's been a lot to dislike about the past two games. I'm sure the vets are just anxious to get the season going and don't want to stick their necks out in a meaningless game. ...but damn this is not pretty hockey the Detroit boys are showing.

    Yeah! Yzerman is a bum! Guy couldn't even PLAY hockey...let alone manage a team! Gosh I feel like a dik even typing that in jest. lol

    Nobody is that slow...Hatcher maybe. Daley maybe. Not real impressed with Nemeth so far. Some of the suck is likely due to fatigue...it's been a whole lot of hockey in a short time frame, but man those guys are second to nearly every loose puck.

    Dunno 'bout that Nemeth - Green pairing...could be scary. lol Hope Ras kills it on Flip's wing. 53 must be warming the bench to start. Kid has played a TON of hockey lately.

    Lame. The NHL needs to figure out that there's this thing called "streaming" that easily lets people circumvent their greedy blackout restrictions. Nice. Seider and Ras are probably cut with the next round, but it's encouraging to see. All three of them have earned more opportunity to show their stuff imo. Cholowski should stay up, particularly if the Wings are rolling 8 D to start the season AND rig is sidelined.

    Yeah, Svech and to a lesser extent Ras needs to be given every opportunity to sink or swim imo. We're what...4+ years out from Evgeny's draft day? Lousy luck injury wise aside, you've got to figure the verdict on him needs to come this season. Keep him up and feed him some ice time...see what he does with it. He's looked pretty good knocking the rust off so far this pre-season. I could stomach seeing Svech getting reps on the 3rd line instead of Helm, Erne, DLR, etc.

    Not much. I believe he's waiver exempt due to an extension...due to injury. Love Hickett's gumption, but he's not going to stick with the Wings. IMO. Wouldn't be surprised if someone snags him though.

    lol @ their cap hit. $95.7m...roughly 18.5m > Detroit's. I know this is irrelevant before opening night, but holy crud that's a lot of bux tied up in a few bodies. They'll need some creative massaging to get that down while still maintaining decent depth. You gotta figure they've got only a few years to make that roster pay off before the wheels start coming off.

    Terry, Elson, Lashoff, Pickard, Hicketts, Puempel, Turgeon, and McIlrath put on waivers...according to capfriendly. No huge surprises here. Hope Pickard doesn't get poached. https://www.capfriendly.com/transactions/waivers Hmmm...TML put Schmaltz on waivers. Not like the Wings need another bubble RHD, but the kid may be worth a cheap look.

    Jurco was a regular with the Wings really quickly...perhaps a year and change between draft and a roster spot. Obviously that didn't end the way we all would have liked, though injuries were a factor. Who knows, maybe Zadina just needs to start the season in a Griffin's sweater to get his head right and he'll be much improved as a call up. Definitely odd that he seemed better last year.

    I like Connor, but AA, Bowey, and a 1st seems like someone's pipe dream. AA at $3m for another season is a relative bargain for a 30g guy. Connor will likely get moar dinero, albeit for better production historically. The deal would make more sense if Connor was signed to a team friendly contract first.

    The Zadina hype was a bit over the top and now the Zadina bashing is a bit overblown. He hasn't been terrible, he's been mostly invisible. I don't see him making a lot of really stupid plays, he's just not executing. You can tell he's peeved at himself for not chipping in. His body language screams "frustrated". That's a whole lot better than detached or lazy. I firmly believe he'll come around...it's just going to take time.
