LOL Can't trust a damn panda in an office setting... Faulk had a fairly craptastic year and he's got 2yrs remaining @ 4.833 per. I'd not advocate overpaying, but Svech and some picks would be fine...though Carolina probably gets better offers. Pity Svechnikov didn't light it up while he was up with the Wings last year.

Kewlness. Now we can nab Faulk without having to take on his BFF too. Make it happen Kenny. Svech for Faulk str8 up...the brothers Must. Be. United. lol

Yeah, if I've a gun to my head, I probably take Rasmussen over Veleno, but they're pretty close in my book...which helps illustrate just what a steal Veleno was. The Tatar trade looked pretty good before draft day, now it looks like a monster win for KH. I may have taken Veleno over Kotkaniemi as well, but frankly neither of them were worth a number 3 in that draft, there was just too much other talent available.

Sabres!!! Phooey!!! L33t tank commanders maybe. I imagine Colorado is going to be a lot higher next year after that totally horribad 3-way trade that sent Duchene to the Sens in exchange for their conditional 1st, 3rd, Turris, the kitchen sink, etc comes home to roost. Man that trade stunk then and is just going to look worse next year. Sakic bent Dorion over on that deal. Clearly...I digress, but I still have some Avs hate-or-ade on tap. lol A bit surprised they put Veleno at #2 on the Wing's prospect list...me likes.

Zetterberg's status in 2 years. MOD WARNING PAGE 6
solarion replied to FireCaptain's topic in General
Don Zetterberg in 2 years. -
I like to see Berggren bulk up a bit, which is probably a foregone conclusion with an 18yo, but agree, he's a lot like Nyquist and will probably produce a lot like Goose. Bonus if he's a moar consistent 20g/40-50pt producer than #14.

Ah Bergevin, that guy's GM kung-fu is on a whole other level...of suck. ...in other snooze, the Flames have placed Troy Brouwer on waivers(buyout). He'll be 35 in a couple weeks, the Wings are awash in mediocre forwards, AND Troy shoots right... uh...make it happen Kenny? Back in the day I might actually have been worried...but the new and improved Kenny won't go there...I think. lol

Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion
solarion replied to kickazz's topic in General
Tough call, but I'm in the "91 only camp". I got there by imagining how I'd feel seeing someone new wearing those digits. While I'm not thrilled with the idea of someone else sporting a #13 sweater(for instance), it doesn't hit me like a POSER wearing number 91 does. Both Fedorov and Datsyuk were unique players the likes of which we may never see again, but Feds absolutely belonged in the HoF while Datsyuk is on the bubble there, partly because he didn't play longer, but it is what it is. Absolutely loved watching Pasha play hockey, but he couldn't dominate a game quite the way Fedorov could...that guy was on another planet when he switched "it" on. I'd hate seeing someone else wearing #40 as well, but for different reasons. Don Zetterberg would freaking END THEM for stepping on his turf! Ozzy...pffffttt whatever. Perhaps we could just retire his # during the playoffs. lol When Mario Lemieux is on the ice and he ain't the best forward, that says something about the guy that is. -
Luke DeCock is Faulk'ed in the head... DeCock doesn't know if he's coming or going! Anyway, I'd like it if the Wings would get Faulk'ed, particularly if they only had to unite the Svech brothers to do so. Okay, maybe they toss in a 2nd too...

Which Goalie Will Have The Better Season?
solarion replied to ChristopherReevesLegs's topic in General
Fixed! I like Howie and frankly he and Bernier are pretty even skill wise, but Jonathan is 5 years younger and has more to prove at this point...particularly after being bounced around the league like a pinball the last few seasons. I say he steps it up a notch and outplays #35. -
Signed Frans Nielson signs 6 year $5.25m AAV contract with Detroit
solarion replied to Jedi's topic in General
A solid 2way player on a decent contract. Frans didn't have a great year, but not many Wings did. The whole team should look better this year. Is it October yet? -
Yeah that team is being driven into the ground solely through mismanagement...a' la Edmonton and their perma-rebuild policy. Egads what a couple of horribly run franchises...it's tough to watch. Wouldn't blame Tkachuk at all if he refused to sign with that mess of an organization.
-
Melnyk. I doubt he's forced to sell, but good for Stone for sticking it to him. $5m for Stoney is kind of insulting. They've a real tire fire going on in Ottawa...makes Detroit's problems seem minor by comparison. Their best draft pick since 2001? has said he'll decide by mid-August if he'll sign with the Sens. You can bet Brady and Keith Tkachuk are watching this soap opera unfold in Ottawa very closely. They lost Hoffman already, EK and Ryan will be gone soon, and now they're low balling Stone. I wonder where these guys think they're going to get offense from. lol Edit: Didn't Hayes just get $5m in NYR? Stone >> Hayes even though Hayes plays center. They shouldn't be screwing around with Stone like that. Dude is a steady 60pt producer that they cannot afford to lose.

Jonaton Berggren: "I was sad to not be picked; I had a good season." lol Look at that baby face. https://www.nhl.com/news/jonatan-berggren-hopes-to-live-dream-with-detroit-red-wings/c-299623584?tid=277729154

Your wish is granted. Dahlin er...Veleno is ours! ...and we're holding Svech's brother ransom until he agrees to ditch those nasty Canes and come play at the pizza arena. #swedishmafiarulz

Yeah Veleno falling to 30 was awesome for Detroit. Great skater, great playmaker, solid defensively...just that lackluster shot. Which frankly doesn't seem like that big a deal to me for a center...provided you put some great finishers(Zadina, Mantha, AA) on his wing. If Veleno progresses well and can push for a roster spot, I imagine a line with Mantha and AA on his wings could give teams fits...that's a whole lot of speed to deal with.
-
This was a steal by the Wings @ 6 overall...thank you so much Montreal, Ottawa, and Arizona! If the wings hadn't also made out like bandits with their 30th and 33rd picks it'd be easy to call this the biggest heist of the draft, but it was such a great draft for Detroit, it's tough to say which pick was the best bargain. Time will tell I suppose.
-
That was humiliating. I swear I saw the back ref use his off arm to help hold up the other. In his defense it was nearly two minutes of delayed penalty time...totally heartless non-effort by the hometown club. Where was Brett Lebda when we really needed him?!?
-
Well then he's doing it wrong. lol Phoenix is further from Milwaukee than Montreal is...though there are less annoying border guys to deal with. Nyquist as a verb...stellar! I'm stealing that.
-
Truedat, but they also need guys that can finish. To leave Zadina on the board to take Hayton at #5 is just stoopid. This is a team that managed even to outstink the Wings in GF last year. ...yuck. Take. The. Shooter. If Galchenyuk gets even a whiff of success at center in the desert, I'm expecting riots in Montreal.
-
Agree. The dawgs will likely regret not drafting BPA at #5. Frankly I liked Veleno as the best center of the draft, despite his mediocre shot, but he or Kotkaniemi I could kind of understand that high, but Hayton...I just don't get that pick at all.
-
Look where the picks that immediately preceded Zadina landed on this list. Kotkaniemi(3) came in at 22, Tkachuk(4) came in at 24, and Hayton(5) didn't even make the list.
