This is what I dont get. How is Green "playing solid defensively"?? He's a minus player.

Ha ha ha. Yah, makes me laugh when people say "can we please keep this in the dedicated thread?" Almost every single thread gets off track and results in us talking about the goalies, the d, or the weak offense. And there's nothing wrong with that, imo. Talking about what we agree on would be really useless. Larkin is awesome. Yep. Agreed. Yep. Yup. Sure is. Yep. But anyways, I have been impressed with Howard's resolve this year. He has stood up to the challenge and played well for the most part.

Im old in real life (born 3/12/70), but relatively new here. The grind line was so good way back when. And funny how the visor distinguished them in 2005. Everybody has one now.

Who is he going to replace, then?
-
The Isles arent budging on Hamonic. Thats the prob. Gonna be a bit pricey.
-
The hate is swelling!!! Helm has been good. Why demote him?
-
Ericsson and mantha to the Isles Hamonic to the Jets Byfuglien to the Wings
-
It's circular, dude. I want Mantha in instead of Miller. Looks like Andersson, Athanasiou, and Nosel are ahead of Mantha, tho.
-
They play Kronwall and Green 20-25 minutes a night. Those guys should be getting on the score sheet more often.
-
Smith is on pace for a 15 point, +15 season. What the hell do you want out of your third pairing defensemen? The smith hate on here is like the flu. We need to just get rid of it. He's a good hockey player.

Ericsson is slow and passive. We need him to be faster and tougher. -
And why is everyone expecting Mantha to be Cam Neely? I just want him to bury pucks for the Wings. Nyquist hasnt won a board battle since pee wee. But nobody gets hung up on his lack of physicality.

Miller and Ericsson replaced by Athanasiou and Ouellet would do a lot for our team speed. -

I hope we dont go up by 3. This lead is super safe. Play in a shell the rest of the way. -

I hope we have a one goal lead late in the third. The Wings really know how to lock it down and protect the lead. -

Wings win 6-4 -
We need goals and offense. Mantha does that. Bring him up.

The Brett. I miss #22.

For too many years in a row now, the Red Wings have not been able to slam the door on teams in the third period. They seem to have a hide-in-the-shell turtle mentality when the clock hits 10 minutes to go in the third and they have a lead. This has to be a coaching problem. I'm disturbed that Jeff Blashill has carried on this bad habit since Babcock's departure. So how do the Red Wings get rid of this mentality and start producing 3 and 4 goal leads in the third period instead of setting a self destruct time bomb for themselves and being content to only protect their lead? I really believe it's a psychological/coaching problem. It can't be that the players aren't physically fit enough to last 60 minutes and fatigue causes them to give up leads.
