Exactly. I've been talking about it since I came aboard here. It's probably one of the things that frustrate me the most. It needs to be addressed. The coughed up points make the difference in 5 vs 3 or 8 vs 1 in the playoffs. That difference turns into the difference of playing a number 1 seed that's banged up in the 2nd round versus a fresh #1 seed in the first round. These points matter. The problem needs to become less of a problem.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't turn into Frenchzeen. He seems like he's getting stronger and gaining weight. But he doesn't play with an edge from what I've seen. No beast mode out of this guy.

Good points. We do need Tatar to add 10 lbs and Nyquist to add 20 lbs. These guys get beat along the boards every time. Sustained pressure is a big factor in tiring the other team, drawing penalties, and scoring goals. How does the coach get the team to achieve this for the last 10 minutes of the 3rd period? Seems like we shyte the bed way too often. I almost feel like we need to pick up the mentality that we start each game down 2-0. We need to play like we are down a goal when we are up a goal, and play like we are tied when we are up 2 goals. Right now, we play like we are tied when we are down a goal, tied, or up a goal. That needs to change.

Hmmmm, dont know if I agree. We are about to lose 2 premier 2 way forwards to retirement or to age and wear and tear. Im thinking Dats and Z got this year and maybe 1 more to be at the level that will allow us to win in the playoffs. Gotta find a couple more Larkin type guys.

Oduya is on his 5th NHL team in 6 years. If he's so special, why does he keep getting dumped? Bad comparison, unless you dont want Marchenko to stay with the Wings. So that argument is debunked. Now onto the Marchenko article - I will agree that he's a good decision maker and makes the correct play in the defensive zone most of the time. And you need guys who play this way. The problem with Marchy isnt his head. It's his feet. His skating is inferior. He needs to get quicker so he can be better in transition. Great decisions, and a real good set of hands. Like the article says, his first pass / breakout pass is excellent. But his lack of speed will keep him out of the lineup once Quincey returns. Speed kills in Hockey. Marchenko doesnt have it YET.
