I would agree with you if we didnt dump 20 million into Ericsson, Howard, Weiss, Cleary, and Samuelsson. I'd rather have Suter and Parise at 20 mil per than those 5 at 20 mil per. Yah, I try to defend those 2 as much as possible, because I hate to think that the 1st round picks we spent on them were a complete waste. But after watching the last 2 games, both players looked completely lost and nothing like assertive NHL defensemen.

I called someone out for putting ALL the blame on Smith. He's not the only reason we lost against Carolina, but he was on the ice for 4 of the goals against, and was a contributing factor in all of them going in. I am probably Smith's biggest fan, but I'm tired of waiting for him now. He's not progressing into what the Wings need him to be. And as far as the prospects go, I never said we couldn't trade them. I'm all for trading them if we aren't going to play them.

Sorry, but our GM has failed. Suter and Parise could have been had for 10 mil a season. Strike 1. Yandle could have been had for Mantha, Ouellet, and a first. Strike 2. Phaneuf could have been had for Weiss and Smith. Strike 3. Dougie Hamilton could have been had for Mantha, a first, and a second. Strike 4. We cant keep praying Holland is going to do something. We need to accept we have a good 1B in DeKeyser, a good 2B in Kronwall, a good 3A in Green, and a good 3B in Quincey. We are missing the 1A and 2A spots. You need shutdown guys here that MANHANDLE the other team's pests. Ericsson, Smith, and Kindl have not developed into what the Wings need them to be. Ericsson was a 7th rounder, so I cant blame the guy for not being Chris Pronger. But Smith and Kindl have completely failed. The Wings have put a lot of time and effort into these 2, and the return on investment is almost nil. If Blash is just going to relegate them to 3rd pairing duty for the next 5 years, better to cut ties now. No sense trying to make 2 guys who want to be Brian Leetch play like Brian Lashoff.

Spot on. Z cant do anything about it. We do not have a forward in the lineup that can break Gallagher's jaw. But we have a mass of 180 lb forwards doing absilutely nothing offensively. So take your pick of anyone not on Zetterberg's line, and replace him for one game with Tangradi next time Montreal is in town. Then have Tangradi rearrange Gallagher's nose.

Not gonna happen. Holland works 3 days a year - draft day, trade deadline day, and July 1. He's missed on so many defensemen that could help us, so what would make anyone believe he's gonna hit one now? Dougie Hamilton was sitting there right in front of his face all summer. Holland doesn't have a clue.

They didnt call a penalty. That was the problem. If a penalty had been called, they wouldnt have even reviewed. The noncall meant they had to rule that a goal.

I can't respect someone's opinion that watches a team sport where the team has 19 players involved and then pins the entire loss on one defenseman.

To me, it's funny to see a group of forwards that are almost all under 200 lbs get manhandled the whole game and not be able to keep possession, then a goalie who can't make saves a goalie getting paid what he gets paid should make, then the fans blame everything on the 3rd defensive pairing.

This is why it's important to have a goalie who doesn't implode. Howard is too fragile. Doesn't make game changing saves. Lets in game changing goals instead.
