Feel the same. Broberg is my 6th selection. Have no idea why he has fallen so out of favor. Tall, long guy with huge reach and A+ skating. So what that his pick skills are choppy as a 17 year old.
-
Agreed. Wonder why the French guy had Dach so high. I like his analysis typically.
-
Dach is that guy for me. If skating is mediocre, everything else has to be stellar. His intensity and positioning are just not on that high level to warrant a top 10 pick for me. Too much of a project. Cozens has the wheels and edge work that will make him at bare minimum top 9 worthy from day 1. I dont see Dach cracking our line up till 2021-22 season.

1. No Chance Dach goes before Cozens. 2. Would be ultra surprised if Broberg doesnt go top 10. With the exception of Brendan Smith, you can teach defense. You cant teach speed. Broberg has wheels, and he's big.

This is a cool thread. -
Beverly Hills Ninja is a hidden gem. I love watching that. Drive now, Joey.
-
I'd put him at #3 like last years rankings. And like last year, I think V-Pod will fall down 3 or more spots due to the same concern - speed. Would not be at all surprised to see Hughes, Kakko, Cozens, Byram, Turcotte, Podolzkin go in that order. Then the Wings fans all going crazy for him and completely forgetting that we already have 5 guys that fill the exact same role.
-
We will probably end up making a mistake and drafting Dylan Wallace Cozens.

If this means Cozens, then I'm excited. If Holland picks up some small undersized left handed guy, then a whole year of sucking with zero payoff. -
Just like Zadina, right? Lock to go rope 5, maybe even 3.
-
Ha ha ha. Athanasiousies. How do you know?

I just hope we get Cozens. If we get Hughes or Kakko, I will be stoked. But if Holland drafts another player that is LEFT HANDED that isn't named Hughes or Kakko and doesnt play defense, I'm gonna be pissed. Mantha Zadina Athanasiou Larkin Bertuzzi Svechnikov Ehn De la Rose Hirose Kuffner Puempel Turgeon Rasmussen Veleno Smith Berggren That's enough left handed forwards. We dont need another one. -
I'm not worried about the durability of Kakko, V-Pod, Cozens, or Dach as much as I am Hughes. The NHL has a lot of traffic, and that can make it challenging for little guys.

I read up on the Rags, and they haven't had a picking the top 3 since 1969. That's just cruel. I hope the Wings and Rags go 1/2. -
You dont need to wonder. They are required.
-
You can't, though. Carlson Letang Doughty Keith Chara Lidstrom Niedermeyer Etc. All the cup winning teams have an elite 1A Defenseman.
-
Jack Hughes makes us a lot harder to play against. Especially if Vancouver trades us Petterson and Quinn Hughes for Abdelkader and Helm.
-
Holland has whiffed bad on this whole thing. We have gone on winning streaks when positioned for best odds at the end of the last 2 seasons. Dahlin + Hughes vs Zadina + Zegras is the difference between us climbing back into the hunt for a cup and us climbing back in the hunt for the playoffs. What everybody is missing in this "rebuild" is what the rebuild can accomplish. If we are constantly drafting high end 2nd line / 2nd pairing talent, then we aren't going anywhere in the playoffs anyways. We need game changing talent to get us deep in the playoffs.
