Its really a s*** situion for the league and nhlpa too. Matthews HAS TO get what he's worth. If he had signed for 9 mil a season tp make room for others, who did the same in turn, it would just screw over the entire nhlpa. He's one of the top 3 players in the league, and he should be paid like it. The cap needs to go up to 100 mil. Simple as that. Handcuffing teams with ridiculously low spending limits is absurd. In the NBA, TWO players exceed the nhl's cap for a 23 man roster. That's just stupid.

Soderblom didnt have the required stamina last year to play a shift for a full 45 seconds. He crapped out after 20 seconds and then became a liability. Hopefully, he hit the gym this summer.

If that's our D heading into next year, then our GM and coach have failed the fanbase huge. This is the LAST season that we should have a patchwork defense. If we dont have Edvinsson, Johansson, and Wallinder on the big club next year, then this could turn into a re-rebuild quickly. No offense, but your suggested 7 man defense for 2024 really sucks ass.
