    5/7 - Draft Lottery GDT - Detroit v The Bettman - 8PM EST

Anybody here a statistics guy? 4 ball combos could go from 10 (1,2,3,4) to 50 (11,12,13,14). So over an infinite amount of draws, I would expect 30 to be the mean and top of the bell curve. Am I wrong? The blackhawks ended up at 31. That does not appear far enough away from the mean to justify a 14% odds drop. I would think for 25% of infinite draws, you'd have a spread of 10.5 (25.6% published odds × 41 draw combos possible). So the Ducks should have had a ball combo range from 25.25-34.75 to give them a legit 25.6% chance of the 1st pick. And why wasnt the sheet with the numbers made available to all before they pulled the balls? Even if they were randomly going to pull out more likely combos and assign them to less likely teams ( which makes zero sense), they should have made that available to all days before the draft if they wanted us to believe this was legit. Some guy in a suit whispering "Chicago" after checking his secret sheet is garbage. I dont believe it. If that sheet was public, and a statistics guy can prove the odds are distributed correctly with it, then I will stand corrected and be quiet. As it stands now, I believe all the people in the room are part of a fixed lottery draft set up to send marquee players to struggling big markets to increase revenue for the sport (which I'm not against). Hockey is a great sport, but this part of it sucks. They need to take it out of the commissioner's hands by setting a 32 year schedule where each team gets a number 1 overall, then worst to first for picks 2 to 32.

The right way to do it is to set up a schedule where each team gets one automatically once every 32 years. Then just do a worst to first for the #2 to #32 pick. Its a joke to have Detroit go 40+ years without one and have Edmonton get 4 of them. Will there still be tanking to get the number 2 pick? Yah. But this system completely removes the Betman closed door, closed windows, video taped lottery ball stupidness. Every hockey fan knows the draft order is rigged right now. It's obvious.

Youre giving too much credit to Bergeron and Krejci. These guys are good, but both past they're prime. It showed in the playoffs. 2 new guys stepping in with their top 4 might make Boston harder to play against, actually. They have 4 centers in their prospect pool that all need at least another year, so Im expecting Bergeron and Krejci to hang on one more season. But Boston has a good core. They arent going to fall apart.

not gonna happen. 94 Wings completely sharted against the sharks after a killer reg season. Then what happened? Stanley Cup series 3 of the next 4 years. Boston aint on the upswing like we were, but they aint dead yet either.

Trading Grzelcyk, Forbort, and Ullmark for picks clears up 11.7 mil. Leaves them committed to 7 forward, 4 defensemen, and 0 goalies at 65,750,000 with buried and overage penalties. With next year's cap at 83.5 mil, that's 17,750,000 to spend on 7 forwards, 3 defenseman, and 2 goalies. Im betting they bring in 5 forwards, 2 defenseman, and 2 goalies from their prospect pool (or re-sign guys like Nosek/Frederic) at 900k avg each. That leaves 9,650,000 for Bergeron and Krecji. You are right that they are up against the wall right now tho. Their GM is going to be forced to start a youth movement, which might actually help that team.

No chance. They'll find a way. Trading Ullmark will give them enough room. Would like to see us take Trent Frederic off their hands.

They got 73 mil tied up in 14 players. Theyre going to lose Bergeron and Bertuzzi, but should be able to fill out their roster with 9 younger guys at 1 mil each. I think they will stillbe strong next season.

We have 6 of the first 71 picks. Hopefully, we use our 2nds and 3rd to bump the islanders pick up to 10 or 11.

If we lock up Reinbacher and pick up Dumba, we could see a great defensive team next season. Walman - Seider Edvinsson - Dumba Maata - Reinbacher Johansson That's tasty.

I have zero faith that the lottery has any legitimacy. The league is stacking its big market teams, which is smart. Now if you're Detroit, you gotta get guys that can HURT the players of the other teams. That's a must.
