Just to be clear, I never said Zadina was the next Tarasenko. From the start, my expectation of him was to be the 2nd line left wing who scores 40-50 points a year. And that expectation didnt have a 2 season time frame on it. This KID is 21 years old. He has been an NHLer now for 2 years, which is a far cry from the 4-5 year AHL ripening period we gave Tatar and Nyquist. Im not saying he's going to develop into the 60-70 pt guy we want. Im saying he could. And like I said before - next man up? Chase Pearson? You can ***** about Dekeyser right now because we DO have better alternatives. As far as Zadina, he's head and shoulders better than the alternative at this point.

I am not ready to give up on him. He's 21. Not 26. 2 more years, and lets see where he is. It's not like the next man up (Chase Pearson) is going to offer us more value. So making Zadina our whipping boy is a bit silly right now, considering his age and salary. Dekeyser - whip away. He's a HUGE problem with this team.

this is the big misunderstanding with Zadina. He's not supposed to be creative and dynamic. the same way kozlov wasnt the creative and dynamic player on his line, no disrespect. Zadina needs Larkin right now. It's that simple. The issue we have is that we only have Larkin. Our center depth is terrible. Its Larkin and thats it. The rest is 3rd line quality at best. Wings are in a good spot at wing in that we have enough mouths to feed (Bert, Zadina, Vrana, Raymond, Veleno). But we have only one cook.

Phil Kessel If Steve wants to chase a playoff berth this year, we need to pick him up. Arizona will give him to us if we pick up his contract. As much as I dont want to see Ken Holland style moves, this guy solves a 2nd line problem for us and doesnt hurt our rebuild. Bertuzzi-Larkin-Raymond Zadina(Vrana)-Suter-Kessel That 2nd line gets a huge shot in the arm and makes our forward group a lot less one dimensional.

I believe the NHL will set a path to up the cap to 90 million over the next 2 years. Both the Leafs and Lightning are good examples of teams building the right way. These arent the 2002 Red Wings. They have drafted most of their high pay talent, and I believe the league needs to make moves to allow them to stay together. A 2-1 Luxury tax should do the trick. Every dollar over the cap, 2 dollars back to the league from ownership.
