I agree with this. Good analyst. I really agree on the moral victories topic. I swear I heard that 5 games near the end of the Michigan hoops season, and I said 'you know what, who cares?'. If you showed me a schedule from last year I couldn't be able to show you the 'moral victories, where the players finally understood the offense'. The bottom line is a win is a win, and a lose is a lose.

SHOULD HAVE won, but like usual they had their collapse and they didn't. They should have won when Braylon went crazy, and they should have won the year after that but they didn't. Should have doesn't count as a win. Michigan should have beat App State, but they didn't...I'm over that I give all the credit to them for believing in themselves, and proving the whole world wrong. You can bring up App State all you want for a easy come back, because that game will be talked about the rest of our lives, but remember MSU lost to the team that lost to App State that year.

Bragging rights? I'll take a 8-2 record for a ten year span any day of the week against Spartina. If MSU falls to a very young team in transition this season you better be here eating your crow. P.S. - Why even waste your time with the Freep? It is the worst written big city newspaper in the United States.

That is a very solid guess. Everybody already knows it's only a matter of time before he takes Corwin Brown's spot at DC.

Why is RR a slimeball? Because he coaches Michigan now? BTW I seriously laughed out loud when I read the comment about JLS, and Bobby. RR left West Virginia for an all around better. Dantonio did the exact same thing 2 years ago leaving Cincy. Both left the Big East, both got out of their contract. The only difference is West Virginia fans proved to be literally psycho, and wouldn't let it go stirring up a bunch of ridiculous articles/stories. Cincy fans just said "Screw it, lets call Brian Kelly!" Speaking of Brian Kelly he will be the head coach at Notre Dame within 2 seasons. Write it down. You heard it first.

Every college football coach in America is a little bit 'dirty'. Was Lloyd Carr perfectly ethical while recruiting, and doing all the other daily work? No. Is Tressel, or any other Big Ten coach? No. Every Big Ten coach has "stolen" a recruit from another Big Ten school before signing day the last 2 years except NW. So is RR a little dirty, or as Joe Tiller would say "snake oil" technically yes, but do I think he will be Pete Carrol dirty? No way. Like BRTD said there isn't a track record of it. Hopefully it stays that way.

What gives you the reasons behind your "Dickrod" (Good one!) statement on probation? What has he done wrong at WVU? Please enlighten me. I would really like to know, because that has no truth to it. Thats wishful thinking on your part... By the way if U$C never goes on probation no college football team will. I think you can still call Texas Tech a sleeper because of teams like OK, TEX, KAN, and MIZZO in the Big 12.

No, but what's the point of saying they won't be ranked? Any team border line 25 that loses week one will drop out, and all those teams can still be ranked at the end of the season.

Utah is very legit. Like I said above I wouldn't doubt if they lost that one, but just like U-M has a potential downer in Utah MSU also has one in Florida Atlantic. They got a very good QB in Rusty Smith with a bunch of very good returners on offense. I've read some people predict they will beat Texas week one. I have Direct TV, and got BTN. I love that channel. I believe Charter is the only company without it now.

For the record I think you have said that the last 2 years (: But I will agree with you this time. I think U-M will surprise people. They have a chip on their shoulder, have a handful of speed demons coming in, and if you're a QB in RR's system there isn't near as much pressure on you compared to other offenses such as Carr's. I think they will win 8 games, but I think it will start out rough with a lose to Utah. It should be fun/exciting to watch though...I have no idea what to expect from 90% of the players, or have any clue what the offense will look like. Of course there will be times when it looks like crap, and I am pulling my hair out, but thats part of the learning curve/inexperience. I will also make another prediction: I think Justin Feagin will be starting at QB by the end of the season over Steven Threet. My Big Ten Champion pick is obviously OSU, and my sleeper team is MSU. I think MSU is going to have a Iowa type run occur over the next few years.

    2008 Detroit Tigers Season Thread

I'm going to miss Pudge. Like BRTD said I hope Detroit treats him well when he returns. I have mixed feelings on the trade. I know he's passed his prime, and might have not re-signed, but this guy was the one who took a chance on the Tigers and turned the team around (not to mention went out with class when interviewed today). It's not like Pudge was a bum like Shef batting .225.
  15. I think Joe D is going to have to wait for the trading deadline/midseason to change our core. Now with Artest going to HOU there goes the T-Mac rumors (fine by me by the way). Maybe he wants to see how Curry does at the helm, and hopes the younger guys take it yet to another level.......
  16. Kwame Brown?! I just threw up in my mouth!!! Here's to hoping Joe D turns another outcast into a star.....

My family tries to get tickets to that race every year, but decided not to this year because they are building a house. I think I can speak for them, and say they were glad they didn't go! I didn't get to watch the race except highlights, but it sounded pretty brutal. If they would have test driven that stupid "Car of tomorrow" at the Brickyard during the off-season this probably wouldn't have happened. I want the car of yesterday back!

Gretzky's son to play football in HS

Oaks Christian is a power house football program. Like the article says 2 years ago they had "Emu" Clausen, the No. 1 HS QB, and Marc Tyler, No. 2 HS RB. Plus that team had Marshall Jones (USC - No. 9 HS DB) along with several other college players. Never knew the Great One had a QB...thanks for sharing. Surprised Montana left De Le Salle, that is another football factory. Who wants to beat Montana ends up at ND?

The Great Brett Favre Kerfuffle of 2008

I never said you did, I was just replying to BRTD. I will admit, you have almost pushed a few times through out this thread to jump on the other side of the fence with you because of your passion for Favre...I cannot disrespect that. But I'm going to try and stop posting about this because neither side can change what happened. Both sides probably should have done things a little different, but overall I am just getting annoyed big time by this when I watch TV, or read the paper.

The Great Brett Favre Kerfuffle of 2008

I agree with this. I don't think the Packers pressured him at all. I will use a Packer comeback here, and say "Why would the Packers pressure the starting QB of a team 1 play away from the Super Bowl to retire?" I still question why Favre "retired" when he has said he never feels like playing at that time of year. It doesn't make sense to me. Now, the Packers are faced with a dilemma between loyalty, and a business move.

The Great Brett Favre Kerfuffle of 2008

Thought the exact same thing! If he never plays again most people (except probably GB fans) will remember how he went out instead of the other things he should have been remembered for.

The Great Brett Favre Kerfuffle of 2008

I agree. The thing that frustrates me about Favre is he had his emotional presser in late spring, but now says 'he never feels like playing then'. Well, why did you announce at that time then? Why not skip workouts, and make you announcement now? If he did that I would have no problem with it, because thats his right, but like BRTD said he is reaching attention ***** status. Maybe Tim, or other GB's fans will explain, but I don't understand why everyone thinks Rogers will be such a drop from Favre. By, no means am I saying Rogers is better then Favre right now, but Rogers was a 1st rounder, and learned/matured much more then other former 1st round QB's have time to before they are thrown in the fire. On top of that he learned from Favre. When 1st round QB's get lucky enough to sit their first year they usually watch a bum like Joey Harrington, or a McCown type player.
