University of Michigan - The upset - The future

Les Miles has said U-M is his dream job, and there is a reason he put a clause on his contract, even though it's tons of money. I still have questions about Miles though. Is his sucess because of Sneaky Saban? In my opinion the guy also looks very shady.

I really don't know. I know I'm just glad I'm not making the choice. Even with a football reputation like Michigan it will be hard to get a good coach because it has to be the right fit. I remember when ND hired Willinham (sp?). I thought that guy was the real deal, because he did so much with so little at Stanford. Instead he ran ND into the ground for their standards. I have a Rivals account, and the guys that pop up the most in rumors are Les Miles, Kirk Ferentz, Rich Rodriguez, Brian Kelly, and Jeff Tedford. Out of that list I would want Ferentz or Tedford. I know Ferentz sounds like an impossible scenario, but he was born in Michigan, his daugthers just graduated from U-M, and Mary Sue Coleman hired Ferentz while she was at Iowa.

No they won't fire the coaching staff, but when Lloyd leaves on his own after this year there will be a whole new staff. I hope the next coach keeps a few of the position coaches, because we have some very good ones. Carr, Debord, Moeller, and English can leave though. I just hope Les Miles doesn't come here

One reason that Crisler is half empty is because many U-M alums/suporters are still pissed over the Fab 5. I think thats stupid because it was over 15 years ago, but I guess it's legit. Many people last year bailed out because they wanted Amaker gone. I'm sure there are a fair share of bandwagon fans too, but every school has those.... MSU is not a football school. Yeah they may have a great party atmosphere before the games, but you poll the nation and 90+ % will say it's a hoops school. MSU has not won a Big 10 title in football in ages, and has sucked since Sneaky Saban left. And if it is such a "football school" then why was it half empty twice last season? It doesn't sound like they are waiting for a good football team, it sounds like they are bandwagoners.

Okay I'm serious if for some horrible reason I can't go you can have dibs on that . But unless something horrible happens to someone I know, or I am sick I will be going to that game even if Michigan is 0-11 heading in!!!

It's not a typical U-M answer. It's an opinion. I'm sure most MSU fans would choose to watch MSU hoops over football anyday. I like college football better then college basketball as well, and it has nothing to do with U-M being bad at it. If college football is on I will watch it no matter who is playing. If it's college hoops I will only watch the Big 10, a few big games here and there, and of course the tourny.

I watched the FSU/CLEM game. Clemson hands down has the best RB duo in the nation. Those guys are blazing fast, and fun to watch!

The App State game hurts like no other pain. The only good thing (if there is one) is it is almost a sure bet there will be a whole new coaching staff next season. Sometimes you have to hit the ground hard before you relieze you need to shake things up. This will be the biggest coaching job that has been open in a long time. I would put it ahead of ND a few years ago, and Florida.

Media and people need to relieze Lloyd Carr will never be fired at Michigan unless he got in trouble off the football field. It doesn't matter anyway though because he will retire here soon.

100% right...... No way. Last season why amazing even though it ended sour. No shame in losing to the No. 1 ranked team by 3 points. The USC game was ugly, but U-M just had a off day, and it's Southern Cal afterall. No one from the staff will take over. The only guy with a chance is Loeffler, and that is way to much of a risk. English does not have enough experience, and Martin is against Debord. Debord ran CMU into the ground. You could give him a pass because it's CMU, but after Brian Kelly turned it around in 3 years the free pass is no longer there. Word is Martin has been already researching, and although nothing is for sure most people think the main list is Les Miles, Kirk Ferentz, Brian Kelly, and Jeff Tedford.

I agree having Mallett getting reps is very key, but Henne is miles ahead of Mallett in terms of the playbook, and experience. Most drafts sites have Henne going first round (not if he plays like he did today the rest of the season). Why would you take a true freshmen QB over a possible 1/2nd round NFL prospect? I know Mallett was the cream of the crop in HS, but college football is a whole new ball game.

Yes you are right. Carr can leave whenever he wants, but I really believe this is the last season. He has dropped to many hints about it such as his contract being fixed, and how he wants to go out with a 'special' senior class. I know the 3 main seniors haven't had success in the big time games (OSU/Bowl), but I know Carr loves all 3 of them. Plus add this lose, the pressure, and many kids getting into trouble (which he used have a pretty good handle on) I think he is getting sick of it. Thankfully after today I think it's safe to say Mike Debord ran himself out of town as the next possible head coach. Carr wants him bad, but Bill Martin wants nothing to do with him. Martin can use this game, and USC game to defend his position. Even if U-M wins out they will not be considered for the Nati. Losing to a I-AA school will do that to you. The only hope is the Rose Bowl.

I was at the App State game. It feels like I was hit by a semi-truck. I have no words to explain this or no excuses. App State is explosive, but still most of U-M's 3rd stringers would start there. It's too bad, and embarasing. I said this game would be close, but I didn't think it would be that close. By the way this is my first time being at the Big House when they lose (I was 17-0)...never thought it would happen today. By the way whoever said U-M should play Mallett is an idiot.

    Grand Rapids and the USHL

This would be low on my list. Grand Rapids has flirted with this before. Currently they have the Grand Rapids Owls, a juinor B team. The team is a joke, and I wouldn't be suprised if they folded soon. They average about 20 fans a game. About 10 years ago they had the Bearcats, a Juinor A team. That went alright for a while, but ownership, arena, and the Griffins screwed that one up.

    2007 Green Bay Packers Thread

I agree with both sides of this smack talking, but I'm more with Detroit Ian. - Detroit Ian said GB is better then DET a number of times. What are you (Packer) trying to prove? Ian is also right because it's dumb to talk trash about 2 bad teams. -GB isn't going up anytime soon. Favre is a average QB. I love Favre, but those are the facts. Average at best Favre+horrible surroding cast=nothing specail. -The defense is nothing special. Yes they have building blocks, but Harrel hasn't proven anything, and besides AJ Hawk they don't have much. Charles Woodson is still solid, and had a second wind last year, but like Favre is on the downslide. -Packer..you said Denver didn't make the playoffs last year, but if they were in the NFC they would have went 12-4. Denver is a very good team. -Packers blew becoming above average when not trading for Randy Moss. Instead he went to my team (like Timothys), and they are going to win it all this year.
