    Pistons fire Michael Curry!

I agree with you 9 outta 10 times on that point, but the DJ White trade bugged me. I have no clue how White is doing now, but he seemed like a Joe D type of player. He was blue collared, and played in college for 4 years dealing with TONS of diversity compared to the majority of other college players.

    Pistons fire Michael Curry!

I hate Davis, but I would take him. I don't know the Celtics cap situation, but I would assume they would match anything reasonable. I was just wondering if the Clippers are shopping big men. They have a million of them, and need to get Griffin PT so maybe that is an option. Also take it for what it's worth...I'm not a twitter person, but I was reading on another board that CV's twitter said something like "Another big move coming!" after this trade occurred.

    Pistons fire Michael Curry!

http://www.freep.com/article/20090713/SPOR...harpe-to-Denver Okay this move makes me scratch my head. Affalo and Sharpe for ONE 2nd round pick? I thought we were trying to be defensive? Affalo is one of the only Pistons left that fits this mold, plus he is young. He is that type of role player every team needs. I understand we are doing this to get a big man, but really who is out there?

I agree. Also good thoughts on McDyess. I would still take Joe D over most GM's in the league though.

Yeah I'm with you. Sucks there were no really good guys out there. Seems like everyone out there has some major flaws. One of these times Joe D is going to coach, and I'm serious.

    Pistons fire Michael Curry!

That is interesting. It sounds like a 0% chance, but last year ESPN had something about how the Hornets are in such a crappy financial situation it might have to happen. It was basically unload every starter and surround CP3 with a bunch of bums, or unload him... BTW I think the Hornets would want more then that. Stuckey would have to be involved I'm sure.

    Pistons fire Michael Curry!

Who else would we have acquired this summer? I think these are basically the best 2 options since Boozer was off the market. I also think Joe D did the right thing by spending money this summer. There are going to be a lot of unhappy teams next summer after they strike out on all these big name players. I have never really watched CV so I don't know what to think about him at all, but if he improves on his last year's stats we got a really good deal.

    Pistons fire Michael Curry!

I agree on Dumars, but he has showed he is willing to take chances without thinking twice about it over and over again. It's a double edged sword. Without his crazy moves we never win a title, but now you have situations like these. I really don't have a problem with him letting go Curry after a year. NBA players control their coaches more then any other athlete in sports. All it can take is one player to whine, and they get their wish. I don't agree on Gordon. I think Gordon is a big upgrade over Rip. I love Rip, but I thought all of last year he was on the decline. Maybe it was friction with Curry and AI, but I think Rip's best days are behind him. Gordon is CLUTCH, younger, and fresh blood. I do agree on your Rip/Prince trade comment. Looks like this team makeover isn't finished yet.

I would HATE Doug Collins...that would be beyond weird. I'm starting to think Avery Johnson as well. BTW Ben Gordon and Charlie Villunaiva (sp??) are in Detroit today. If we did land Gordon I assume Rip is good as gone.

I'm not sure if I'm fond of the idea, but I was thinking it's going to be Avery Johnson.

    Pistons fire Michael Curry!

I'm so pumped! Shows why Joe D is still one of the best. He knows he screwed up, but what GM doesn't? At least he didn't let this turn into a 3-4 year disaster. I wonder who's in mind? They said on ESPN it will be a quick process. This is only the beginning to Pistons changes if you ask me.

That is 110% correct. I can't listen to DW at all. Plus when you add Digger, and "Hollywood Hotel" with 2 idiots it just makes a horrible broadcast.

I met Kyle Petty about 10 years ago, and he did the same thing. He is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet though!

I read that earlier today. That is a very solid breakdown. I have no doubt in my mind Forcier is better then Threet or Sheridan, but I can't tell you how many more wins that will equal. I'm really worried about the defense. I think Greg Robinson is going to do a great job at some point, but with this current talent on that side I just don't know about this year...

2008-2009 NBA Season Thread (Pistons trade for Allen Iverson)

The more I think about it the more I believe Joe D needs to spend most that money this summer. It sucks the pool isn't really deep for UFA's this off season, but the Pistons are not the only team slashing dollars left and right. If Joe D banked all this cash, and waited it could blow up in his face. I read someplace by next summer there will be 10-15 teams with enough money to get in a bidding war for all the studs available...not everyone will be a winner if that is the case.

Loading up on forwards tells me there is something bigger happening behind the scenes, and could happen later this summer....

2008-2009 NBA Season Thread (Pistons trade for Allen Iverson)

The Suns have a lot of financial problems. Trading Shaq, and getting Wallace's expiring contract after the season, and another player they could buy out saves lots of cash. I heard some guy on ESPN say last night they may even trade Amare to save more money, and plus he's a UFA so instead of watching him walk next summer they could get something for him. Steve Kerr really blew that team up. They were less then a minute away from the finals only 2 years ago.

Since NASCAR started on TNT I love it. I've been a Kyle Petty fan for over 15 years (He was a stud when I started following him). This is the most I've seen him on TV during a race in probably 10 years!!! Yes he's in the booth now, but still... His final 4-5 years driving you wouldn't even see his car on TV all race unless he wrecked.

I'm with ya there. He would also be more NBA ready his rookie season then some of the other PG's such as Rubio, and Jennings that will be drafted before him. I'm totally against drafting Mullens. I think he is a 3 year project at best. We've tried that already with Darko, and Amir (speaking of him see you later!). I don't know why I think this, but for some reason I think Joe D is going to aquire Amare Stoudamaire this summer. The Suns need to dump him and/or Shaq to stay financially alive.

    Detroit Lions 2009 Thread

I guess it depends on how much kool-aid you're drinking I agree with you though it could, but I think a lot of things would have to go our way. Just a few of things would be Stafford isn't thrown into the fire right away, the old Daunte really is showing up, Jansen still has some gas in the tank, and Pettigrew overachieves. I'm also a little concerned now, because in the link BRTD posted it says Millen likes the Stafford, and Pettigrew pick!!!!! Isn't that a automatic red flag?!

You're not the only one. I have the same problem. I'm pretty sure I started out 0-6 as well, but after that I finally saw a win. Maybe you will have lucky number 7 too!

2008-2009 NBA Season Thread (Pistons trade for Allen Iverson)

No. 1 is all I want. Actually I would like all 3 a lot, but getting Bosh would get me excited and allow me to put up with Prince another season. I would also like to see McDyess win a ring so if he goes to some elite team I will be okay with that. This Boozer, Kaman, etc talk does not get me excited. This isn't a very good summer for UFA's. If somehow we could land Bosh in the summer it would be very, very attractive to the big time names in 2010. It will also be interesting to see who they draft. I've seen Mullens on mock drafts (wow that would be awful). I hope we draft a PG. There will be a good one at No. 15 because Rubio, and Jennings are coming from across the pond.

You are right on his knack for the game, but wow I HATE listening to him!!!!! He drives me insane. I don't like listening to homer announcers even if it's for my team. I used to watch games muted, and would listen to the Dickerson on the radio, but now with HD TV the games are not in sync. BTW what the heck is going on lately?! Lidstrom with 2 penalties, D-Train looks like him old self, and Lyon doesn't blow a game!!! Did hell freeze over?!

    What's Up with Datsyuk

I see your point, but don't really agree. He is dangling a lot, but he has had some great chances and not just catching the breaks. He's also working his tail off out there. Hopefully it all comes together for game 7!!
