  1. Sounded like someone just slid into his knee. I haven't seen the clip.

If you've got the NHL Network, tonight's game should be on tomorrow at Noon. Canada gets it live, US gets HNIC and then the Michigan/SLU game tomorrow on tape delay. I guess that's going to be the case every time we're on Comcast 900.

Thanks. My parents house has NHL network where I could watch it, but I'll stay at my own place tonight. I don't want to be in that household after what happened in the Big House today :scared:

  2. I can't watch this bulls***! I've never felt like this before! I've seen them get wasted by McNabb, and Banks at Iowa. I was at the App State game, and the feeling I have is worse. It's F***ing Toledo!!!! I don't care if Threet is 0 for 35. I NEVER want to see Sheridan ever again on the field even if U-M is blowing the other team out!! This is like the Lions where the punter is the best player on the team. JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow i thought that rant would make me feel better, and it didn't!!!!

  3. Le sigh. Michigan gets the win last night, but probably loses Mark Mitera for the season. He got an MRI last night, Red said "I can tell you it's going to be serious" and Bret from GBW said he talked to someone on the team at 1 am last night and was told "It's not good." What a crushing blow in the first period of the season.

Our defense will still be ok, since I'm sure they'll just slide Summers back to the blue-line again, but the offense is going to take a hit because Summers was going to have a huge year, IMO. It sucks on a lot of levels to lose your captain, especially since Summers is the only alternate on the roster. I guess at least one other guy will be getting a letter....Turnbull maybe? Personally, I'd give one to Rust. He's our best forward, he leads by example (playing on a broken leg last year??!!), and he's got "future captain" written all over him. Might as well start grooming him.

What a fricken letdown though. It seems the Hockey Gods really don't want Summers playing forward. Last year Quick got kicked off the team right when they were going to move Summers up front. This year Mitera gets hurt in the first ******* period....

Mitera is such a huge blow. I feel for the kid big time. How did it happen? I think they will be okay though on defensive end. Maybe it's just not meant to be for Summers to be up front. I wish I could watch a re-run of these two games. I really want to see Hogan play again.

And hopefully Ferris doesn't embarrass the CCHA again tonight <_<

  4. Random Stat That I Can't Believe I Just Spent 10 Minutes Figuring Out But It's Still Kinda Cool: If you removed every goal that Porter, Pacioretty and Kolarik scored last year (and didn't replace them with anything) we still would have gone 17-15-11.

Wow Packer!! That would have taken me a year to figure out!!

  5. It's an uphill battle for UM.

I don't know much about Toledo, but apparently they have some crazy offense that puts up lots of points. I think Michigan gets the win, but its a tossup.

This will finally be the year that PSU beats UM. Mark this one as a loss.

MSU should be favored, but the game is at the big pit and MSU has been snakebit against UM 3 of the last 4 years. Between Stanton getting hurt in 04, no kicking game in 05, and reverting to JLS defense in 07, the Spartans find ways to ****** defeat from the jaws of victory. I'm going to say MSU gets the win, but it will be closer than people expect.

Purdue has a pretty lousy defense, I think UM wins here, even if it is on the road.

Minny is off to a good start but they really don't have any good wins. I'll give UM the win since its at home, but I won't be surprised to see a Gopher victory.

Northwestern. Another tossup game. I think this game will depend a lot on how the rest of NW's season goes. If the Wildcats come in on a hotstreak, they'll win. If they've been beat up, UM wins. I'll take UM in a close one.

OSU. The Vest continues his winning ways.

4 wins and 3 losses, that would put UM at 6-6. Motor City Bowl?

You nailed everything on the head there. I'm still up in the air on the question. 6-6 won't guarantee U-M to a bowl game if Minny, and NW win a few more. If OSU/PSU both go to BCS bowls, which is still possible it will make it much easier to go bowling if they go 6-6. I've been saying I expect U-M to pull a shocker out by upsetting one of PSU, OSU, or MSU, and I've been saying they will lay one more egg which could be Toledo, or my prediction Minnesota.

  6. my worry right now is the Lions will spend a few mins evaluating possible draft picks and look just up the state at Javon Ringer and make him #1 pick. Ringer is a good college back and may not be that great of a NFL back. Rather see the Lions draft a lineman with a top 5 pick.

I agree on drafting a big boy. I don't think Riger is a top 10 talent. He lacks size. I would guess first round, but I'm saying that without knowing what JR RB's will skip their senior year. Guys like Beanie, and Moreno could leave early.

  7. Problem is no one wants the #1 pick nowadays. They dont want to give up a #16 and a #28 for a top 5 pick because of the high rookie contracts. Plus you can get a ton of good players in the late 1st round....if you know what your doing.

That is a very good point. I was just thinking are the Lions planning on hiring Millen's replacement before the season is over? I think that would be their best interest if their guy is out there, because he can evaluate the current team, and know his needs right when the season is over.

  8. It's Jabba's fourth season at ND. If I'm not mistaken, ND doesn't tend to redshirt players (I read this somewhere, I could be wrong). The team is his guys. But if you want to keep telling yourself its Ty's fault that Jabba has beat less ranked teams than Ty did, or that the biggest win under the Weis' regime is almost beating USC, feel free.

    I agree.

  9. Most teams start next weekend. I got my first taste today watching preseason so I thought it's about time to start this thread.

    Thoughts/Predictions? Lets get it started!!!!

    CCHA Media Poll...

    1) Michigan

    2) Notre Dame

    3) Michigan State

    4) Miami

    5) Northern Michigan

    6) Ferris State

    7) Bowling Green

    8) Nebraska-Omaha

    9) Ohio State

    10) Lake Superior State

    11) Alaska

    12) Western Michigan

  10. just don't see this team winning a single game this year. there is no team chemistry, players are yelling at coaches, some plays look like they have never been run before, kitna has been pulled twice in 4 games, we have no offense, no defense, nothing. pack it in, get a 1st rounder, trade roy, get a new staff, and just start from scratch. there is no foreseeable future with this current roster, it is just embarrassing.

Agree. Bad thing is as of now there is no guy that sticks out in the draft for the No. 1 pick. If we get the No. 1 pick as of now I would trade it for more 1st rounders. Then trade Roy for another one, and we could add a lot of pieces in one year. I don't even know where to start for what they should draft.

  11. My dad loves to talk about how poor a coach Lloyd Carr was. He was also very excited to get Rodriguez, although he would have preferred Les Miles (and blames not having Miles on Lloyd Carr). So I asked him why this year's team with Rich Rodriquez was doing so poorly. He said part of the problem was that it was Lloyd Carr's crappy players.

Yeah...because we never saw a Lloyd Carr team do well when it had Lloyd Carr's players.

Lloyd Carr always had good success recruiting. The problems though is many of Carr's players don't fit RR's system. I bet if you asked RR behind closed doors there are probably 15-20 players he would never have recruited. On top of that every position is so young, especially at the skilled positions on offense, and the OL is awful.

If Les Miles, or Schino was here you would still have a ton of growing pains because they would also be learning a new offense (probably very similar though to Carr's though), would still have a horrible OL, a lot of freshmen playing, and would still have Threet playing QB (I say that because I believe Mallett was leaving no matter what happened). You would still have Boren playing, and MAYBE Arrington and/or Manningham, which would have helped, but I don't know how much because of the QB.

Last season before Carr retired I said this year was going to be a down year. If you're going to make such a drastic change in philosophies this might as well be the year.

This happens all over...Saban was 6-6 his 1st season at Bama, Tressel 7-5, Carrol 6-6, Stoops 7-5, Rodriquez 3-8, etc. Most coaches don't get success over night

  12. While I'm sure they're looking at backup plans in case Cassell flops, surely they can come up with better than s***na. There's no way he wouldn't f*** up come January.

Still, you'd take the trade in a heartbeat. What round is the pick in the rumour?

    Edit: Mis-spelt his name.

I heard on the radio it was a 5th round pick. I googled it, and saw a 3rd round pick, but that can't be true.

My dad called me today, and was telling me about that ESPN guy on NFL live (former GM of the Titans, don't know his name). He said he was on the radio last week (The Huge Show), and I guess he said if the Lion's offered him the job he would take it. Anyone else hear this??? I thought I would see it someplace online, but didn't......

  13. I'm not gonna throw stones there....Fresno State is a good matchup, and yeah, Wiscy has some weak nonconference games, but then again Bill Martin was almost directly asked "are we ever gonna see a halfway decent nonconference opponent outside of Notre Dame?" and the answer, basically, was "no." In fact they were looking into scheduling Delaware, which would have been interesting for the helmets but is still a I-AA team.

Yes very true, and I heard him say that. Thats why I hate that we didn't take a 2 year break from ND. ND is usually a power, or a well above average team, and it's risky scheduling another big time school for the future, with ND already in the fold because you could have 2 loses right off the bat. I also heard Martin talk about Georgia, Texas, and some other powers, but I'm sure the Delaware will happen over those type of teams. I would LOVE to take a short break from ND, and get a home and home with Miami, USC, or Va Tech like OSU is doing. Is ND still going to play Oklahoma even with Michigan on the schedule still?

Slightly off-topic, but the whole use of the term overrated really bugs me. Pretty much any highly ranked team that loses gets called overrated. It is just tough to win in college football - teams are competitive almost every week, and any team can win a given game.

    Well said.

  14. I give credit to Michigan's defense. Take 2 of those early field goals and turn them into touchdowns and the game is not even close....hell take 1 and the outcome is different.

My point is more often then not, you turn over the ball and play that poorly in the first half...you are down much more than just 19-0. Heck I bet that was part of DickRod's halftime speech in that they were only down by that much.

I think every year people jump on the Wisconsin bandwagon and when you really think about it. WHO HAVE THEY BEATEN.. They are big ten's biggest fraud and they should be banned from the top 10 rankings until they beat someone.

I agree with that, but the reason they were not down more then 19-0 is because thats college football, which is why I love it. I said before the game Wisconsin was way overrated, but didn't know if that was enough. Wisky needs to start scheduling someone worth playing in the non conference. I know Fresno State was suppose to change that, but I never bought into that.
