Little Bert is doing his Claude Lemieux imitation again this year...he had two goals last night to give five along with five assists in 8 playoff games
-
Little Caesar was Marian Ilitch's nickname for Mike....I think it's a great name for the arena. I think they ought to publicize the genesis of the name a bit more

Bubonic plague plus our 2nd for their 6th

Red Wings drop 2 spots, will pick 9th in NHL Draft

If they want a power forwarsd... we go D at nine...then we could move up and hope for a shot at Givani Smith's Guelph teammate Isaac Ratcliffe. He's a BIG wing. Don't see him falling to rd 2 Ideally...I'd like to go C at 9 and then D on trade back up into 1 for Foote or Hague or see what falls to us in Rd 2. -

Really easy? Yeah...it's a picnic going against a team that can roll three good scoring lines out there. Your 230lb D and F's are going to love chasing after guys they can't keep up with for three periods. We need top end C more than we need D. I like our D prospects...guys like Hronek, Vili and Sambrook. I'd keep an eye on Holway as well. If the opportunity arises to come back into the 1st round to snaga guy like Hague..I'd be OK with that. But I'd much rather go with a C with top six potential at 9 -
Bowman now calls him "Mein Kampf"

It's really hard to play against a team that can score a lot of goals. We needs a top flight center so we can score goals in large quantities -
I'm mixed on Liljegren....I had a really awful case of mono when I was about his age. It took me a lot longer than a few months to fell "normal" again and I wasn't an elite athlete trying to compete in an exhausting sport like hockey. He could represent fantastic value at nine. But..we really need a C with top six potential. Nosek and Turgeon look like 3rd and 4th line centers and I haven't seen enough of Axel or Ehn to determine where they might fit. Getting a guy like Glass, Suzuki, Necas...or even trading up to get Mittlestadt...would give us a higher ceiling C who can play the game at a faster pace. I think AA and Larkin should both be on the wing. We need to find some C's who can keep up with them. Although I have to admit...Liljegren at 9 or Tippett at 9 would be awfully hard to pass up. You could still get a value prospect at C like Thomas or Lodnia at the top of rd 2 Would love it if we landed a Suzuki or Glass at nine and then traded up back into the 1st for a bigger D like Foote or Hague. And let's not forget Patrick Holway...he apparently made some strides at Maine in his freshman year. He's a big D with some skill. Hopefully the skating will catch up as he fills out. Theoretic rebuilding is fun...it's like we're molding clay

Saarijarvi is the same height as Brian Rafalski...a player he's been compared to by broadcasters calling the OHL playoffs. I've watched some of those games as well. Saarijarvi is most definitely an NHL prospect -
At 5-7 and 170lbs...Alex DeBrncat is small. Martin Necas at 6-0 and 170 isn't small. He's light and will need to add some quality weight. But an 18 year-old professional athlete ought to be able to do that with the right diet and training regimen. I think I'd prefer Mittlestadt (not likely to fall to us) or Glass..maybe even Suzuki, but Necas sounds like he fits the profile of what we need just fine

Here's some info on him...sounds like his skating is an issue. Teams want guys that can lug the puck and he sounds like he lacks a bit in that regard. https://canucksarmy.com/2017/04/03/a-closer-look-at-chl-free-agent-darren-raddysh/

Over 600 guys have played in the ECHL and then played in the NHL...that's more than I thought until I looked it up

Nurse's sister Tamika played PG for my alma mater (BGSU). She was a lil' cutie (in street clothes...basketball uniforms..unlike volleyball..aren't very flattering) I would LOVE to trade up from the second to the mid teens....take a run at C's like Suzuki, Glass or a D like Foote or Hague. Say "no" to Makar...we have him already in Vili and Hronek
-
I think Axel is going to be a good one...He found Nosek for free and I think he's a definite bottom 6 C...Marchenko is an NHL Dman from the 7th round...Nyquist has performed better than the average mid round guy (making the NHL would clear that bar). Has he found another HOF guy in the 7th round? No...then again, the book hasn't closed on the career of Jonathon Ericsson...

I've watched a lot of Missasauga and Erie in the playoffs. I like both of them ...a lot. Sambrook is mobile..he has decent size and nice shot from the point. Vili is just...amazing..on skates. Runs the PP well and he plays really smart positionally. Vili is potentially a top pairing or elite 2nd pairing guy. Sambrook is more a second pairing guy...but he could definitely run your 2nd unit PP someday. Love to see us take a shot at Erie C Ivan Lodnia if he's there in the 2nd round...London's Rob Thomas would be a possibility there too.

How tall is Mantha? If Hakan Andersson says we should sign him..let's give it a shot. He's hit on a number of these "finds".
-
He could replace Sheahan as the 3rd line C after Vegas takes him

Axel scored today on a real nice shot from between the dots off a great feed by Svechnikov. From the little I've seen of them..they seem to have a bit of chemistry together I don't think the Wings are putting a great deal of stock in Ehn's offensive numbers in Frolunda...from what I've read he was centering a checking line and not given much rope offensively. The cliche with Swedes is that the defensive development precedes the offense...so...we'll see

Janmark isn't in the AHL...he had a really nice rookie season in Dallas in 15/16 and then tore up a knee or something and missed the whole season
-
Maybe...it was only 7 games though...I'd give him a looooong look on the 4th line before writing him off
-
My biggest concern re Dekeyser is his lack of strength. The hope I had was that once he got past 25 or so his metabolism might slow a tick (mine sure did) and he could add a bit of muscle. Get that boy some dianabol!!! I would love to deal Green ahead of the draft. Let's give LV a 4th round pick and "make" them take Helm...or Abby...either one
-
Vadim Shipachev.....Larkin gets a year or two more to mature on his wing Richard Panik...mean streak we lack. (RFA) Steve Ott...gritty and unpleasant to play against. Although we might want to give Lil' Bert a shot on the 4th line instead.
-
Guys that play Mike's game don't usually dress for the playoffs so he was left off the playoff roster.
-
I really like Owen Tippett...but he's a wing. If there's a C ranked as highly who can actually play C...A guy like Glass or even Suzuki...I'd go C. But man...Tippett would be really tempting. Good size and speed and a nose for the net.
