An 8 year deal would mean that Yzerman is still paying 7-8 mil per season to Lindholm when all of Raymond, Seider, Edvinsson, and potentially, the 2022 1st rounder reach UFA status. Beaulieu is currently ON LTIR with a lower body injury. Stecher has been back FROM injury for over a month. Beaulieu had 4 points in 24 games. Stecher had 4 points in 16. Beaulieu is LH. Stecher is RH. Stecher should have gotten a bigger return than Beaulieu IMO. If Beaulieu went for a 7th, Stecher should have gotten a 5th or 6th at the worst. I would trade Zadina for Chychrun.

Gave up #52 overall, and Panik (throw in from another deal) for Leddy. Got back a 2nd which may will probably be around the same draft spot along with 2 roster forwards for Leddy and Wit. Out 52nd overall, Witkowski, Panik In: 50ish pick in 2023, 2 roster forwards Walman/Sundqvist>Witkowski/Panik So we end up with 2 better roster players, and roughly even draft picks in the end. I call that a win.

A good trade for Leddy by Yzerman. He basically gets a 2nd+. If only someone could have predicted this. Walman and Sundqvist are both bottom 6 forwards. Even if you cancel one out by the addition of Witkowski, SY still got a 2nd and a roster F for Leddy. More than what I was expecting. Great job.

Did not suggest he is being shopped for that reason. If Bert gets traded, his vax status may be a part of it tho. I disagree. SY knew this team was not a contender before the season started. Losing him for those Canadian games was a lesser evil then trading Bert for scraps. Bert's value was much lower to start the season because of his vax status. That would not have been a good time to trade him. Yzerman may have waited because he was hoping that Bert might cave to pressure from his team and the media and get vaxxed, and/or he was hoping restrictions would be removed quickly. SY may have also been hoping that Bert would play well enough that teams (especially in the Metro and Central) would not be swayed by his vax status. Waiting until the TDL to trade him was the smart move, whether or not SY was displeased with losing him for those Canadian games. Also, I wouldnt count out a future return to border restrictions. Its not like CoVid is going away anytime soon. That may play into Yzerman's future plans as well.

Signing Edler or Goligoski to a 1 year deal would not be a bad idea. Seider could use a vet to pair with that can still actually play. De Haan would actually be a good partner for Hronek, IMO. I believe De Haan is more of a reliable stay-at-home dman, which safely frees up Hronek to be a little aggressive offensively. Plus De Haan is 30. So signing him to a 3 year deal would make the veteran locker room presence in a few years when all of the other D is mid 20s and younger.
