Gusev was, at the very least, what u hope ur getting with a 2nd round pick. If I have to choose between Gusev and a kid who, statistically speaking, will never be as good as Gusev already is, then I would make the trade. The likelihood ur getting a kid who turns out to be better than Gusev with that pick is much lower.

You're probably right. With Seider and Hronek on RD next season, Green would be an expensive 5/6 Dman. Although I would love to have him back if he's cheap and Daley is gone. I think it's possible as Green seems to like it in Detroit and I think he would rather play for less than uproot his family to chase a better contract. The idea of Seider, Hronek and Green all on rhe team could be the best right side depth in a long time.

Agreed on Ras and Svech. Zadina and Veleno are not yet good enough to get top 6 minutes in Detroit. Until they are, they'll be better developed in GR. Seider is probably good enough to make the Wings, but not 20 minutes a game good. Put him on the top pair in GR until Daley and or Green get traded at the TDL. He should be ripe by then.

Unless u move Hronek or Green to the left side, Seider would be on the 3rd pair. Would rather play him with Cholowski as the top pair in GR. The Nemeth signing would have more to do with a kid not getting a spot than either of Daley or Green. They were already here, and Kronners retirement should have opened the door for Cholowski. Bringing in Nemeth after the acquisition of Kaski and then the drafting of Seider was a head scratcher for me. As for F, I don't see an issue here. I expect Moose and Svech to make the roster. Zadina and Veleno in GR logging top minutes makes more sense to me than playing behind Bert, Larkin, Mantha, AA, Hirose, Flip, Moose, and Nielsen on the big roster. Are any of Kuffner, Ehn, or Turgeon better than Helm, Abby, Glendening, or Nielsen? I dont think so. So would getting rid of them improve the team now or in the future?

Proof? Development should be the focus right now. If that means some of these kids are better off in GR for now, then so be it. No need to win right now. Even if there are prospects in the system who are better than some of the roster players, if the kids are better served playing in GR, then that's where they should play. Its not unusual for kids who are at an NHL level to play in the AHL even if they are actually better than some of the depth guys on the roster. We would all prefer to see these kids in Wings sweaters ASAP, but if someone like Seider is better off munching minutes in GR, than that's where he should be, even if he's better than someone like Bowey. Getting rid of guys like Helm, Abby, E, Daley, etc doesn't mean those kids would get their roster spots anyway. The kids aren't in the minors because of a lack of roster spots for them. If that was the case there would have been no reason to sign Flip or Nemeth. If any kids start in GR, its because the coaches and GM think its better for their development at this point, dropping the "dead weight" doesnt change that.

Petterson, Boeser, Hughes, and now Podholzin. I actually like their core more than ours.

Not sure about forwards, but looking at D, yes. Assuming Green, TD, DD, E, Hronek, Bowey, and one of Chokowski or Seider makes the Wings...that potentialy leaves Seider/Cholowski, MacIsaac, Saarijarvi, McIlrath, Lashoff, Kaski, Lindstrom to play in GR depending on who goes back to juniors and Europe. Edit: Forgot about the little guy - Hicketts.

I just hope Moose turns out to be worth a 9th overall draft pick, regardless of what forward position he plays.

But it wasn't Sergei. It was friggin Fedor. Who never played for the Wings. WTH is he doing here? Is this some sort of consolation prize? Did Feds bail on them and send his lil bro instead? Not cool. Why not bring in Wayne Primeau? Or Nikos Tselios? Hey..why not Brent Gretzky or Bart Hull? Not cool.

Yeah. He was there. I don't think he was injured, he participated in full on drills/scrimmage on Saturday and Monday. I say I don't think he makes the NHL because after seeing him at camp the last 3 years, I havent seen enough improvement in that time to think he makes it. He is at least behind Green, Hronek, Seider, Bowey, Lindstrom, and Kaski down the right side. Speaking of Bowey, I don't see how he's playing in the NHL. Had I not known he was already on the roster, I would have thought he was a camp invite. I actually would prefer Seider or Kaski over him.

Went one more day to camp. Glad I did. Much less crowded. Better looks at the players. 1. Seider seems about where Cholowski is in his development IMO. His back skating was very choppy, not very fluid when he was being rushed. Other than that I didnt notice any issues with his play. Definitely belonged with the big boys. 2. Hicketts is a munchkin. I'm 6-2 and I could literally rest my chin on top of his head. 3. Daley looked good in practice. He gets way too much negativity from fans. He's still sound. 4. I dont think Saarajarvi is going to make it to the NHL. 5. I'm on the fence with Lindstrom. I wouldnt be surprised if he pans out or if he doesn't. Same with Kaski. 6. Zadina didn't excel, but didn't look out of place either. He will be an NHL regular, but maybe not the goal scoring machine we were hoping for. 7. Moose looked more poised to me. Probably still going to start in GR. 8. Svech should be on the roster in a bottom 6 role IMO. 9. Not really impressed with Nemeth. I would put him with DK and E. Green and Daley looked better IMO. 10. Didnt notice Erne.
