Hindsight makes people appear to be forward-thinking.

Not necessarily. Had NJ won that game, an alternate time line would have been created in which the lottery played out completely differently and the Wings drafted 6th anyway. - Science.

Does it seem like a lot more forwards are only being listed wingers? IIIRC it used to be common to list kids as C in order to up their value. Only guys like an Ovechkin, for example, were listed as wingers. I believe that both Franzen and Nyquist were listed as centers when they were drafted, even tho they clearly weren't. It just seems like the draft is doing a better job of classifying players now?

Because ur supposed to root for them to crash and burn as quickly as possible. Isles going out in the 2nd round doesnt change the pick all that much, and its the lesser of 2 evils.

Because youre leaving the whole thing to chance. No advantages, no favorites. Everyone has an equal chance. No reason to tank. No rewarding of success or failure. -
In order for teams to move up, there have to be teams that fall back. Math.

That's not going to make me root for the Pens. NYI beats Pens, Leafs lose to Bruins, Islanders lose in round 2.We still keep a decent pick. It's a win, win, win.

The Olympics are essentially a shortened season and playoffs. Wasnt Tretiak pulled for poor play in '80?

As much as I like it, I dont think Dach goes before Byram. 6th is the worst spot for me. There are 5 guys I would be happy with: Hughes, Kakko, Cozens, Podholzin, and Byram. All of them could go in the top 5, leaving Dach and Zegras as "consolation prizes" IMO.

My point is that any system has flaws and can be exploited and/or have unintended results. Anomalous? Yes. But the possibility is always there. I've heard several proposals that have elements I like, but in the end the only truly fair and bulletproof way to do it is to give all 31/32 teams one ball in the caddy and let chance determine the winner. It will never happen because there will be results people hate (although fair) thus making it too unpopular to implement. Then why have a lottery in the first place and just adopt the NFL model? -

Dumb? Really? If you were a low end playoff team ( no real shot at the cup) and you could draft the next Mario Lemieux, you wouldn't consider phoning it in for most of the season in order to draft him and make yourself an instant contender? -
If we were in the running for #1 and got 6th, what is there to be "happy" about? Am I ok with it, content? Yes. But definitely not happy. Although the conspiracy theories and tank lover meltdowns are entertaining.

Taxes are like the draft lottery. Those who benefit the most are those who contribute the least. -
Tretiak?

My concern as well. A bubble team in rebuild could just tank until they were eliminated and then start winning to get the 1st overall. Make Detroit Great Again -

Amazing how they always pass things that benefit lower income families like public transit, public housing, inner city neighborhood improvements, etc ; but when it's something that benefits middle income families like arenas or stadiums (because they can afford the tickets), they scoff at it and insist the teams pay for it. -

Enjoy it while it lasts. Once they figure out that having the government run everything isnt fiscally possible, they'll come looking for ur paycheck. Then they'll come for your gun. Steps 1 and 2 Straight out of their playbook. -
He just needs to add an "s" to his last name and he'll be fine.

Would love to see the Islanders go farther than the Leafs as an FU to Tavares.

1. There are cops in Beverly Hills, there aren't any Ninjas. 2. Detective Axel Foley was actually a member of the Detroit Police Dept, not Beverly Hills. 3. Beverly Hills Cop spawned 2 sequels. BHN? No. 4. It's spelled. B-e-v-e-r-l-y Hills. 5. Beverly Hills Ninja > Beverly Hills 90210. Can we agree on that?
